The Board may at any time appoint any person to be a charity trustee by way of a resolution passed by a majority vote at a Board meeting. At the AGM, one third of trustees must retire from office but may then be reelected at the next Board meeting. There must be a minimum of three trustees and a maximum of ten trustees.

Objectives and activities

Charitable purposes The Sydenhams Chorea Association SCIO’s purposes are the advancement of education; health; the arts, heritage, culture or science; the relief of those in need by reason of ill-health; and the provision of recreation facilities or the organisation of recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended, all with an overarching focus on Sydenhams Chorea and other similar or associated diseases or disorders.

Summary of the main activities The Sydenhams Chorea Association works closely with various medical in relation to these objects and other professionals to provide information on the effects of the condition, the treatments available and the support networks which can be accessed.

Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of The Association raised income of £3,227 from donations. Total costs were the charity during the financial period — £2,998 which included a payment of £2,016 to the American Academy of Pediatrics.

The Association’s Reserves total £22,528 at 30 November 2025 and a future research donation will be considered in due course.

Financial review

Brief statement of the charity’s policy | Due to the nature of the charity, no formal reserves policy has as yet been on reserves determined by the Trustees. However, the Trustees are satisfied with the current level of unrestricted reserves. The Trustees have reviewed the likely outcome for the next 12 months and consider the charity to be a going concern as it is in a position to meet its financial liabilities as they fall due and will be able to do so for a period of at least 12 months from the date the financial statements are signed.
