The successful FCDT and Open Road partnership hosted the Festival of the Sea with
family rock pooling and art and music mornings and a sea focused creative writing day. The Family
Capoeira (mentioned above) was launched as a weekly activity in August 24. The (festival) activities are a
perfect fit with our purpose, sense of place and our environment. Achievements and performance
The year has been one of transth.on following last year s final interior renovatK*ns works. It has
required us to adapt and develop from a grant ahled and event income focused operation to one that
is 100% dependant on FCDT generated income from hall hire (trading receipts) and ad hoc income
from our Ftttie merehandising products & donations. This has netsssitated the eareful balancing of
our pnorrties to meet our income targets while delNering on FCDTS obiectNes. We have
successfully buim on our solid base of cultural, social and envir(mmental programmes while managing
the challenges presented to FCDT in this new phase. The Trustee5 have achieved this through
carefrjl planning and cashfiow management through(MJt the year. The financial focus has been on the
operational management and associated management of our overheads {cost of running our hall}. A
Jll review of our suppliers was undertaken and new contracts put in place e.g. SSE replaced by
Octopu5 Energy resulting in the reduction of our utilities overhead5.
ACHIEVEMENTS
PERFORMANCE

achievements of
the charity
during the
financial period
As a trust we are delighted that our partnership wtth Open Road, a company limrted by guarantee.
has continued as a significant amount of hall hire income was forthcoming from the Trusfs
partnership. This partnership is a huge asset to the Trust, a5 a'win-win. providing income and a rich
and varied prcgramme of social, cultural and entertainment communty activities. The Festival of the
Sea, brought lo Frtts"e by Open Road working with ACC (Aberdeen Cty Council), delivered
wonderfvl mix ofthemed events from free famity fun events (arts & crafts to beach rock pooling) to
art, music & choral participation & leamiry sessions, the Harbour vol￿ Choir summer concert and a
topical film night.
Craft Fairs have teen established as a regular event now four times a year, which are enjoyed by the
village as well as attrath.ng v1srtc￿5. The craft fairs orchestrated by village members. originally
sharing and exhibiting their skills (r)mplimented by a wide range of crafters, have grown in svze and
popularity wtth the S￿n1￿cant ass(Kiated financial benefft. These fairs have also been stand-out
events for both the trading receipts income and Ad Hoc income from merchandise sales and
donations while supwting our obJectNes.
Fittie Through Time was fvnded by Communty Land Scoliand as part of the Communlty Land Week
celebrations. The day was a huge success thanks to all involved. The day was run moming and
aftemoon activrbes: guided walking tours" an exhibrbon of archaeological finds unearthed by
residents when preparing the ground to create our communty garden., a talk by Universty of
Aberdeen academics ￿ what our finds revealed about lrfe and diet in Fitbe and the harbour area; an
opportunty to explore your family tree hosted by a Fittie famity member support by a volunteer from
the Aberdeen Famity History Society and a display of historic phot05 and maps.15ee pidure5 below}
Our working groups continue to be a svJnfficant and valuable asset to our community. The
Communty Garden a special place for our communty has continued to be developed with beautiful
manicured beds along with areas to encourage wllinators and wild grasses to flourish. fijrthering the
conneth.on betseen our gardening and environmental groups. In August the Gardening Group were
asked to participate as part of Aberdeen's enty to. Keep Scotland Beautiful,. The Trust registered
through CFINE (Communty Food Inf(iatives North East) as a focmj busliess operator last year and
this remains a weekty support service and an important environmental group inrtiative to make a
significant contribution to the reduction of waste.
Our cornmunicat￿n channels (traditional to soaal rnedial remain important to share updates, news
and promote events. The refreshing of our loyo design and a new Ic()k and feel websf(e are an
imwrtant part of consolidatsrvJ and buikding on what FCDT I￿.
This year has been a￿ther very bjsy and successful year thanks to all our members, our Trustees
and particularfy our vcdunteers.
