We were also awarded £65,000 from East Ayrshire Council to enable us to purchase Dalrymple Church Hall so it could continue as a community facility. Of the Corra Foundation grant of £5250, £5156 was used to finalise the purchase of the Church Hall. East Ayrshire Council also awarded us £1,000 as a contribution to the first years’ energy costs.
We were also awarded £2,430 by The National Lottery Community Fund towards surveys conducted prior to the purchase of the hall. We also received £10,100 in donations £2,966 from fundraising activities. There were no receipts from charitable activities.

4 Fixed Assets
Fixed assets comprise of Dalrymple Church Hall purchased on 18" July 2025. Land and buildings are held at the market valuation at the date of purchase. No depreciation has been recognised on land and buildings as the Trustees believe this to be the residual value of the property. The Trustees confirm that there is no impairment to the land and buildings at the date of signing of the accounts.
Significant repairs and additions are capitalised where they are believed to increase the market value of the property above the residual value.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Summary of the main activities in relation to these objects
The charity continues to work within the local area in bringing more social activities, new areas of recreation, new social hub and food larder and continued valued work with agencies to ensure we are maximising our effect to help those locally who are affected by current economic extrinsic factors.
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the financial period
Introduction
2024/25 has seen continuation challenges arising from the ongoing cost of living crisis. With the rise in inflation, energy and food prices, many communities and families still struggle to make ends meet. The larder continues to be available for the community with a good source of everyday items at affordable prices as well as access to some free food and sundries. Following on from this the Hub has now been running for three years on a Thursday morning. This provides a warm social space as well as access to free hot drinks, snacks a warm space and company. The hub has very much established itself with our older members of the community and the social Interactions have been seen asa lifeline to some.
In discussion with other stakeholders there was a need identified for access to warm space and food at weekends, form this the Brunch Club has evolved. Every Saturday morning local members of the community of any age can attend. On offer are hot breakfast items as well as cereals, fruit, pastries and hot drinks. The uptake has been quite overwhelming with an average of 35 attendees weekly; it is an enormous amount of work and one that has been undertaken by a small band of volunteers.
Key to the success of the charity are of course are the volunteers; from running the larder, attending the hub and providing the fare, to, cooking the breakfasts at the brunch club. None of these activities and all the others the charity undertakes would happen without the dedicated volunteers. Most of our volunteers have undertaken training as well to ensure all safety measures are met. Their endeavours have aided our community and continue to provide a valued service to residents both from a social perspective and for easing the cost of living.
All the activities above take place within the church hall: unfortunately in late 2023 the Church Of Scotland listed hall for disposal thus putting at risk the only viable community space in the area. The Charity at this point recognised the dire need to retain the hall so therefore looked at raising funds to buy the building. This turned out to be a stressful and protracted negotiation with many hours spent trying to raise monies. We were working with the Scottish Land Fund when the Church of Scotland decided to move on to an open sale due to the length of time application was taking. Through East Ayrshire Council officers and local Councilloran application was submitted to the Renewable energy fund and was successful in securing 65k of funding, with the charity raising the other 5k for purchase price of 70k. We recently had the official opening of the renamed Village Hall and will now endeavour to start works on the essential repairs that are required. However, we, as a charity are excited for the future of the hall and also extremely thankful for the grant and especially to those that made the acquisition possible
Community garden and Wetland Project
Work was completed on the garden in August 2019, and since then has been an exceptionally well used community asset. The Wetland project was completed in 2022 and won the Scotland Loves Local Award in 2023 for climate change.
Volunteers remain the mainstay of the maintenance of the Community Garden and Wetland area from planting to grass cutting- to pruning to hedge cutting, every aspect of the upkeep is done by volunteers, who we cannot thank enough. There is now a sub group within the charity that look after all the outside spaces and plantars that we maintain; this group is very much responsible for making
our village look as colourful and bright with flowers and shrubs throughout the year. Planting is an ongoing job with the wetland about to have two hundred small trees planted, these were gifted from the Woodlands Trust. Like every charity we are always looking for more people to come on board and help and it remains a key aim that we encourage more volunteers to join us.
Recreational activities
As mentioned earlier the Food Larder and Hub are providing residents with a social setting for morning coffee, chats and various activities.
In July 2025 Doonfest took to the stage again and provided a weekend of fantastic live music and workshops. The event, despite the biblical rain, saw over 1500 attend Friday evening and all day Saturday. This is a family friendly grassroots not for profit music event which is attended by all ages, a great accolade to the organisers who bring in musical talent to cater for all tastes. Headliners this year were Scottish multi award winning group The Bluebells who literally saw the event finish in style - the marquee was jumping to their music. The main stage performers this year certainly were varied and all from Scotland - again to showcase or national talent. Free workshops ranged from samba drumming to song writing workshops, from cycle your own milk shake to silent disco, from birds of prey to alpacas, there was literally something for everyone. The main stage hosted Possibility Screams for young teenage singer songwriters and we were also delighted to have young members playing from the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra.
The music event continues to grow with visitors now coming from many other areas of the country, but its heart remains community; the charity will continue to ensure that the event remains free for workshop activities and a small charge for concerts. A core aim of Doonfest was to break down social barriers be inclusive and inspire new generations, something we will endeavour to keep doing. I cannotthank all our volunteers enoughas this is a huge event to put on , not just on the day but fund raising, planning, merchandising, preparing field, booking acts, rotas - and that is just the tip of the iceberg. Doonfest is unique but it requires funding and that will always remain the key challenge for keeping the event alive going forward.
Other events have taken place including race night, cocktail making night, Christmas Wreath making, up close and personal music nights and our annual Easter egg hunt, every one of them bringing different areas of the community together.
