The Advancement of Religion and Health; and relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage or any other purpose that may reasonably be regarded as analogous to any of the preceding purposes. Ayrshire Street Pastors aim to share our love of Christ with people through our actions, as we believe that these speak louder than words. This is achieved by patrolling the streets of Ayr and Prestwick, primarily at night, ensuring that people are safe on the streets, by Caring, Listening and Helping. Ayrshire Street Pastors are now a recognised and appreciated part of the night-time economy. We are members of the Safe Ayr Group which comprises of all the agencies and organisations that try and make Ayrshire a safe and enjoyable place to socialise in, at the weekend. We also get included in other initiatives, for our input but, unfortunately at this point in time, not practical assistance, in particular Safe Beaches initiative. Patrols have continued from 1 June 2024, at weekly intervals through to December, with an extra patrol near Christmas itself. During 2025, after closing for January, weekly patrols have continued. We have continued to pay our License Fee to Ascension Trust Scotland from our reserves, to help to maintain our parent body charity. Management Meetings were held in November 2024 and April 2025 within the current financial period. An AGM was arranged and held on 5 Dec 2024. |

APPENDIX 1
Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the financial period
The public Facebook page continues to be very popular reaching an average of 300 hits each week with over a 1000 followers. The weekly reports are well received.
Our Chair continues to represent Street Pastors (SPs) on local forums, which involve all the agencies, both statutory and 3rd sector, working with the night time economy. Through this particularly, South Ayrshire Council (SAC) and Police Scotland (PS) have been very supportive of Street Pastors. SPs have been invited to join the Third Sector Welfare Forum which is being co-ordinated by Voluntary Action South Ayrshire (VASA).
Following visits by two MSPs in 2023, the Fire and Rescue Service (F&RS) provided a list of defibrillators (defibs). Through SAC and other contacts developed, an all-party initiative conducted a strategic review of the locations of defibs in South Ayrshire. The defib at Wallace Tower was inside the building and proved difficult to move to outside. SAC agreed to purchase a mobile one for us and other organisations to take out. SAC would be responsible for all maintenance and it would remain their property. This was delivered in April 2025 and has become a piece of equipment regularly carried by the Street Pastors.
Each week a report is submitted to PS and SAC showing what the patrols did the previous Saturday. The results are collated and are produced for the information of the elected members of SAC to justify their financial support of SPs. During the year it was good to be able to raise our profile by having stands in July at Promfest and Third Sector Showcase in September at the Town Hall. Presentations were made at various groups about the work.
The ongoing attempts to start an Initiative in Kilmarnock are going slowly. There has been an enquiry from Irvine Fullarton Church about starting in Irvine. Meetings were held early in 2025 with local clergy to which Kilmarnock were invited. Due to this changes are being proposed to our Constitution. We had a stand at Ayrshire Keswick at the end of May in Kilmarnock when is the speaker. I am proposing that we purchase 2 new Promotional Stands for Ayrshire Street Pastors. I am hoping this might raise interest in North and East Ayrshire.
From June 2024 to May 2025, Ayrshire Street Pastors volunteered for 579 hours of duty during which time they gave out 121 pairs of flip flops; 49 bottles of water and 41 other useful items, such as foil blankets, spikeys or sick bags. Naloxone was provided once. They disposed of 315 glasses or bottles and 107 lots of broken glass. 7 vulnerable people were assisted by arranging taxis, first aid and other assistance, in three cases providing food. Conversations were held with 366 persons, including receiving thanks for the work of the Street Pastors in the night-time economy. Records show that, now fully up to speed after the Covid pandemic, the work undertaken is generally double the levels of activity in the previously reported active year of 2019-20. Compared with 2023-24, a very busy year, the general activity in this current year is about 90% of that previous year.
Two new SPs have just completed their training. We are still looking out for new SPs, particularly gentlemen, it appears that word of mouth is the best way. First Aid training continues as required, though most SPs will need to be retrained in January 2026.

Financial review
Brief statement of the charity’s policy The Charity aims to retain sufficient reserves for three months operations on reserves which at this point in time is £1000, assuming a paid Administrator were to be appointed. Details of any deficit None Donated facilities and services (if any) None
Other optional information
During 2024-25 we changed our name. Previous legal name Ayr and Prestwick Street Pastors (SCIO) from 24 May 2016 to 19 December 2024. The purpose of this name change is due to the possibility of Initiatives starting in Kilmarnock and Irvine. The Chair has suggested that we take the opportunity to update the Constitution to cover the formation of Initiatives in North and East Ayrshire, sometime in the future. The Chair has already had encouraging signs of people wishing to volunteer as Street Pastors from these areas.

Our mission is to train volunteers drawn from Christian churches of different denominations to provide a listening ear and practical help to the socially marginalised and the needy. We patrol the streets of towns in Ayrshire on Saturday nights and other days and times when required. We work in partnership with the police, local councils and a range of voluntary and statutory organisations in order to reach and help all those in need. The gospel is the reason for what we do but is not at the forefront of what we say. We are non-judgemental and will give time and help to anyone and everyone we meet. The administration continues to be shared amongst five or six volunteers. |
