Achievements and Performance and Future Plans
During this period, we continued to operate on a similar model to the previous accounting period. We have managed to sustain community engagement on a regular basis with our community teams with ages ranging from 11 — 80-year-old. One area for real growth has been within our Walking Football/Football Memories group who have saw increased numbers which has resulted in this group meeting twice per week for various activities. Average weekly engagement numbers will be around 150. Through these engagements we can support football development skills, physical and mental health and wellbeing, social interactions, local pride, friendship and peer support as well as promoting a pathway for local footballers. Our biggest factor this year was an unexpected financial boost by way of a 3-year unrestricted grant from the People’s Postcode because of residents sharing a large windfall from this organization. We are extremely grateful and fortunate to receive this.
Chairman’s Summary and Outlook
During this year we have continued our annual Xmas project in partnership with the SPFL Trust, with our hugely successful Festive Friends programme. Once again, the delivery of this has been extremely well supported my members of the community and the impact/feedback has been very positive. We once again were thrilled to work with partners — Alzheimer’s Scotland and Versus Arthritis to deliver a hugely successful party. External funding was also secured which supported further development and ongoing running costs of Stranraer FC’s community teams as well as several holiday coaching programmes for children in the wider community. We were thrilled that we could support our two existing grassroots clubs by focusing the holiday programmes on their existing players. This allowed us to widen the engagement of Stranraer FC, as kids who attended were able to display their skills at halftime of our main team’s home matches in front of large crowds, this was followed by a meet and greet with our professional players and management staff. Our four community teams continue to provide regular footballing activities across the region for almost 100 players and helped facilitate coach development for volunteer coaching staff. We have also played a crucial role in supporting the growth and development of a Stranraer FC Walking Football team, this now results in these teams competing regularly at regional and national competitions with some players being selected for national squads. We continue to support our community with vehicle provision for short local/regional trips. During this year, we have noted some changes within our board of trustees. It should be noted that a huge debt of gratitude is given to those ending their time as a trustee and likewise we are extremely grateful to those new voluntary members who wish to continue to support our ongoing activities.
Financial Review.
Funding acquired by the Trust including donations, contributions and bequests have varied in amounts throughout the year but have been consistent with the application amounts applied for. This has enabled the Trust to sustain the courses which it has participated in. Fundraising has been accomplished in many ways by the instructors and young people within the area who have participated in events and worked with the courses delivered.
Reserves Policy
The Trustee’s Policy is to retain a three-month worth of normal running costs to meet the commitments of the courses that are running and any unexpected expenditures.
Signed on behalf of the Charity’s Trustees
