The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

iner’eatt

My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently | do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Charitable purposes

ARC Hippotherapy’s purpose is to promote the objects ofthe[Riding][ for][the] Disabled Association incorporating Carriage Driving (Company No. 5010395) a charity registered under Charity Number SC039473 (“the Company”) by providing disabled people with the opportunity to ride and/or to carriage drive to benefit their health and wellbeing in the Grampian and Highland region.

Summary of the Main Activities

During this period the group was run by a committee of 6 trustees (volunteers) and we utilise the services ofeth of whom are physiotherapists and Ceara Whyte who is an Occupational Therapist. They have all completed further in-depth postregistration training, through the ACPEA Hippotherapy Equine Facilitated Therapy Course. The charity pays for these services. Recognising the need for physiotherapy provision in Grampian and Highland region, ARC Hippotherapy aims to improve the quality of life for those with movement dysfunction by providing high quality physiotherapy (hippotherapy) through equine movement, in a safe and fun environment.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

Summary of the main achievements

During this period, we ran 3 sessions in June 2024, a further 12 sessions between September and December 2024. In 2025 we ran 9 sessions between January and the end of March, followed by a further 7 sessions in April and May. A total of 31 weeks of hippotherapy session for 16 participants during this period. Atotal of 268 activities.

Ongoing therapist assessments and completion of questionnaires issued to participants and their parents, established that all participants showed improvement over this period, whether postural control, balance, co-ordination of functional movements or in their riding skills.

In August 2024, a mechanical horse simulator was installed at Aberdeen Riding Club, together with a hoist. ARC Hippotherapy were able to make use of both these pieces of equipment. Using a mechanical horse for therapeutic sessions is a more suitable option for several of our

participant riders and equally offersthem the benefit of therapeutic stimulation offered by equine movements. The use of the hoist enables riders who have difficulty mounting, to access this form of therapy. This combination allows us to provide Hippotherapy for riders who can’t mount from our hydraulic lifting platform or who we can’t safely facilitate on a real horse.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

In June 2024 the board agreed to change their reserve policy, by agreeing a reserve fund of £9,000 to be retained. This figure was adopted to cover 6 month’s expenditures plus contingencies for repairs and replacement of equipment if needed.

For the period 01/06/24 to 31/05/25 the charity did not incur any deficits during the year. Itis expected that since the charity and it’s members participated in several fundraising events significantly boosting funds, it is not foreseen that a deficit situation should arise going forward. Further fundraising events are planned.

Donated Facilities and Services

During this period the charity has provided 268 hippotherapy sessions wherea total of 35 volunteers each giving approximately between 1 and 5.5 hours of support each week.

Aberdeen Riding Club support the charity by offering considerably reduced rates for the hire of their arena and horses.

The three members of the Therapy Team also offer their services at a much reduced rate to the charity.

Declaration

The trustees declare that they have approved the trustees’ report above.
