Objectives: 7.1 The SCIO will promote, advance and further charitable purposes by operating as a ?grant giving? charity which will support financially and otherwise charities, community groups and others (such beneficiaries principally but not limited to be found in Scotland) which charitably further the purposes detailed at 7.2 and provide public benefit with a primary (but not exclusive) focus on the support of children and young people, medical research and support for older people and those affected with learning difficulties, cancer support and research and social inclusion, employability and support to those who would benefit from opportunities they have not had due to social or economic circumstances. 7.2 For the purposes of the 2005 Act the following charitable purposes are particularly relevant and for the purposes of the 2005 Act are the charitable purposes identified as applicable from section 7 of the 2005 Act:- 7.2.1 the prevention of relief of poverty. 7.2.2 the advancement of health. 7.2.3 the advancement of citizenship or community development. 7.2.4 the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science. 7.2.5 the advancement of public participation in sport. 7.2.6 the provision of recreational facilities, or the reorganisation of recreational activities, with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. and 7.2.7 the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.
