The purpose of the Scotland China Education Network is the advancement of education through the promotion of the learning of Chinese language and culture in Scottish schools. SCEN works with a network of schools, colleges, universities, national agencies, commercial organisations, and associations which are keen to provide opportunities for children, students, and young professionals to learn Chinese and about China. It supports local authorities, headteachers, representatives of colleges, universities, and national agencies in supporting the study of Chinese language and culture across Scotland. SCEN responds to the needs and the issues raised by all sectors.

Objectives: The purpose of the Scotland China Education Network is the advancement of education through the promotion of the teaching and learning of Chinese and about China in Scotland. In particular, SCEN aims: 4.1 To promote educational links between Scotland and China by bringing together those involved in SCEN events and projects, to support each other and to share good practice, in partnership with local, national and international bodies. 4.2 To support the work of the Scottish Government?s International Division and Learning Directorate, the Cross Party Group on China at the Scottish Parliament and all national and local educational bodies in their plans to develop the learning of Chinese language, culture, history and society in Scotland.
