The primary purpose of the Association is to establish and maintain a safe and publicly accessible footpath and cycleway between Strathpeffer and Dingwall. The route of this path will generally follow the line of the old disused railway over its western section and will run parallel with the operational railway over its eastern section. The Association plans to raise funds and encourage the involvement of the local communities at either end of the route and along its length, to help clear the route, build the path and thereafter maintain it.

Objectives: The organisation's purposes are: 4.1 to advance community development by: encouraging volunteering in improving, maintaining and promoting a safe and accessible Community Link between Strathpeffer and Dingwall and the communities along the way. encouraging public participation by organising and supporting a variety of events along the route seeking opportunities, through its path maintenance and improvement activities, to maintain or enhance the environment alongside the route. 4.2 to provide outdoor recreation facilities for the benefit of the Ross-shire community and its visitors through outdoor recreation, in particular walking and cycling. 4.3 to advance the education of the public concerning the environment along the route and the historical influences of the old Railway line on the communities along the route.
