'the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science'

Native Spirit is set up to advance the education of the public in the art, culture, and heritage of Indigenous peoples worldwide. Our primary purpose is to create a bridge for intercultural dialogue, allowing Indigenous filmmakers and cultural practitioners to share their own stories on their own terms, a concept termed 'Narrative Sovereignty' We achieve this by organising an annual Native Spirit Festival, the UK's first and only independent festival dedicated to promoting Indigenous filmmakers, media, and artists. The festival screens films across all genres—including documentary, experimental, sci-fi, and music— prioritising works by Native directors and those in Indigenous languages. Beyond the annual festival, we run year-round outreach activities, including screenings and panel discussions at universities, museums, and cultural venues to further educational impact. Our work is entirely volunteer-run and also supports community educational projects.

Beneficiaries: 'Children or young people','People with a particular ethnic or racial origin','No specific group, or for the benefit of the community'

Objectives: 4.1 To advance education for the public benefit in the United Kingdom and worldwide in the art, culture and heritage of the indigenous peoples of the Americas and elsewhere. 4.2 Such other similar purposes as are exclusively charitable in accordance with the law of Scotland as the trustees from time to time determine.
