Obieetives and Achievements The objecttves for this year to sustain or growthe useage of the buildtng ty the wider communty and support the groups and vobjnteers that were ma.ng use of the spaces and promding act. ENtry efftirt being Kxrt into making use of opening houts to be ffKfyre elnI and in particular around the energy the Lwilding VAS using as the costs Vre siNraifing . The inevitatAe consequence Wds as v* had to look at budgets very seriously and eventually pass on some of those costs to usets . 14Ve vRre looking to eM0Y a marketin9 petson and secured funding for this purpose v're unatle lo athie%E this and the fijnth.ng vlas relum8d. We had meelings )Aith all the user groups to explain the situation about the rising rnsts and most re on board and und8rslanding Nthilst Sor mOd on to other not very prdctical spaces in small church halls and b0ing clubs that had prevthsty not been used txrt it was understood they needed income as much as did. We able to 1ryprnent a partnership Fyogramme for an electric bike woiect . By lIdIng large shed and equipping vAlh tools and elect NCCBC supptied keS and trailer and South Ayrshire communty transport oYarse8 8 tmke hire sthrm for tourists in the area vA)ich compliments a similar scheme they Tun for local hire at another factlty.
Risks to the eharfrty. The risk that had forecast as ndIUM in the wevious arS r&tum grew rapidty into a high risk scenario. What we can onty describe as the perfect storm of carcJJmstances took tts toll Ery quickly. The costs of energy through lighting . heating and even coThlioning during a part of the surnm8r had expanded to the wint that the cost of a let not covering the energy paiticularly in the larger spaces . The let increase had to impose Yras accepted ty some groups thilst others those to find altemative accommodation . Some of the groups that continued wth us noted a drop in attendance and therefore their inrne themselves particularty the ones providing acliwty for >vung peoth. faffAhes havtng to choose been food and heat al horrh8 or dasses and actsmty. The groups that stayEd Kere all impaded as VAS our tra(Ing sub&diary that kYovid8d caf8 service to the faolty noled that people had slorvd cakes and onty tsking coffee and more and more att8ndees at aciivikn.es there just asking for tap ¥ter, the rrnney in everyone's pockets being stretthed. The trading Substdiary Nre suffering greatty 1th rising costs and dropprDg income. There had always been a stsady frow of party bookings and vddings for the trading ami 0 used our spaces and also provKl•d us 7ith a l)uilding that staffed t#Jl from June 2022 LOking$ dried up and som8 8v8nls vrdre en being canceled . D8SPite trymg everything possibl6 they had to take the difficult decision in November of 2022 ttj stcp trading thilst debt free and this had a knock on effect for us the scio as lost the resource of staff employed by the subsidiary that opened and orerated the burfdwig along vAth our volunteers. The volunteer base which wqs largety retired people VAS Shrinking siting the need to find income streams themsefves to help ith the fmancial crisis and b%ithout the staff support they dKln't vAnt the sponsibility of the facilty . The very difficult dea'sion VAS taken by us to also close the facility and moth ball the building thilst a Fdan for the fubjre could be IrIked through. We had enough funds to be Able to conknue to pay utilty charges minimal use , keep insurancas and services like the lifts and alarnis maintainèd vthilst CoUj work to find a solution and a futurn for the facility. We continued to allow some use of the building as this m&8nt th8 building VAS being used and helped offset insuranc8 rates. We had been 2 tru$lees dowi lor a cou* of despite best efforts to attract ntr•V trustees and no new blood was coming through and a desire of the bjard had been to have a n8lural change over a fewytars vthich hadnl harpened There v4as now a degree of concern Ihat the ard had gone as far as it could and a newfulure had to be found and of the eslIng trustees want to reliro.
Plan8 lorfure period We held our AGM and an egm so the community re kept 8ppraised of the situation in January 2023 and also offer8d various 0.On$ lo the lder communty for how the lyjlld9 might be taken for1 and ffre mwrtanty the SL70 could w)tinue lis part in the communty. We asked for new trustees to COW forwar(I, as had been doing annual sinc8 it's inception but sadly no on8 did. We offered to stand the wthole board dowi rf th8 desire for a brand new board rf one could be formed . That was also UnacCeptae to the room . This meant tha1 one of the optr'ons coming thrnu Ms to see rf a transfer of the asset could be agreed 1th another faa'lty or eombine resourc4s. This required consent from the funders that had p8id for the refurb¢shment as they a had sgCUliti6s on the lIdIng . The funders there happy with a transfer to an organssation that had SImar goals to ourselves and thé building remained a community asset . Selling the bJikling really vAsn't a good opts'on and VAS unpopular as an Option but all things had to be considered. An expression of interest made by the Carrick centre another local dianty to explore the optM)n of laking on the asset of the building with a Nryewlo making rt into a dadted youth based facilrty through 2 years of consultslion ty NCCBC and 5 communty councals in and around Maybole VAS coming through as a very strong desire as there VAS nothing in the area like this . This Option has en explored by the Carrmgt cenler and ISnesS anS df8Vffl UP, SUPPOrt from some key funders has agreed in M¢1PaI and are nOwDjng *ilh them to anable this lo happen in late July earty August . Until then vAll contriua to use the building for some let's and for ffAintenance purpos8s On conclusion of the transfer of th8 tlIdIng and rt's assets to the Carrick Cenlrn . Carrick communty leisure group be vK)und up after all expenses arn thè balance of any funds wll also be transfeThed to the Gamck Centrè. ned..
