NLMWA is set up to support the wellbeing, empowerment, and inclusion of women and families in our community. We provide safe, culturally sensitive spaces where women can access advice, learning opportunities, and social connection. Our work includes wellbeing programmes, confidence-building activities, skills development workshops, digital inclusion sessions, youth activities, and community events that reduce isolation and promote active participation. We also work in partnership with local organisations to ensure minority communities have equal access to services and opportunities.
Objectives: The advancement of education, including health education, through the organisation of classes, training, presentations and awareness raising. The advancement of citizenship by encouraging Muslim women to have a better understanding of Scottish law, processes and culture in order that they can participate fully in the civic life of their community. The provision of recreational facilities and the organisation of recreational activities that will improve the conditions of life of Muslim Women and their families. The advancement of arts, heritage and culture and the promotion of religious and racial harmony through the organisation of religious and cultural festivals and multi-faith events that promote religious tolerance and understanding.
