FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2025

The trustees present their annual report and financial statements for the year ended 30 June 2025.

Trustee's report and financial statements

The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 30 June 2025. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019). Objectives and activities

ThePurposes of the Charity are the Advancement of Public Participation in Sport;the Provision of Recreational Activities or the Organisation of Recreational Activities with the Object of Improving the Conditions of Life for the Persons for whom the Facilities are Primarily Intended ; the Advancement of Citizenship and the Advancement of Education.

The Centre’s main activities in relation to its Purposes are to provide sporting, recreational , health , wellbeing and fitness facilities, activities and services to help meet the needs of the local Community.

Achievements and performance

The Trust continues to increase its customer numbers especially in its gym members through competitive pricing and new/improved facilities/equipment available 7 days a week from 5am to 11pm with automated personal identity entry cards.

An extended variety of classes, activities and facilities have been delivered throughout the year including Youth Clubs , PIYO ( Pilates/yoga), HYROX. Clubbercise, Fit for Life Classes (for older and less mobile members of the Community ), parents/carers with toddlers activity sessions and children’s parties.

The Trust has obtained funding to have new roofs installed at the Centre and is developing an extended gym on a new mezzanine floor with studio space underneath. Financial review

The Trust’s Policy on Reserves is that they would be considered as a means to cover for seasonal fluctuations.

The Trust was in deficit this year of £32,995.68 which has been absorbed into reserves.

Structure, governance and management

The Trust is governed by its Constitution.

The three remaining Trustees were appointed on the establishment of the Trust in April 2015. Ther appointment and removal of Trustees remains in accordance with the Trust’s Constitution.

Trustee's responsibilities statement

The trustees, who are also the directors of Charity For Darvel Community Trust Scio for the purpose of company law, are responsible for preparing the Trustees' Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).

Company Law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources, including the income and expenditure, of the charitable company for that year.

In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to:

The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Darvel Community Trust SCIO

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts for the year ended 30 June 2025.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) 2005 Act and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity's trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply.

Basis of the independent examiner's report

My examination was carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.

Independent examiner's statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

  1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements

  2. to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and

  3. to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and

have not been met; or

  1. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit of its accounts for the year in question in accordance with section 476.
