March 2024.
Stru¢turn, Governan¢g and Manag?ment
The charity is governed by a constitution wh￿h was adopted in 1996 and amended in May
2014. The charty is a Scottish Chantable lllcorporated Organisalion. All trustees are
appoint&d or reappointed by membeis at our Annual General Meeb'ng which is held each
year.
There is no formal induclion programme or training for new trustees, although guidance is
given by CUT￿nt trustees and the Project Co-ordinat(Y.
The trustees keep under review the major risks to which rt may be exposed.
Objectlvos and Activities
At Stranraer YMCA we aim lo ensure that we make a positive drfference to our local
community.
We provid8 opportunili8s for children and young people lo play, be physically active,
to leam, develop and grow.
We provide volunteer opportunities for young people aged 16+ and families to be
involved, to learn and to devek)p withln the community and at the YMCA.
We recognise the bamers that children, young people and families face within our
local community-, we aim to ensure access to opportunities within the community.
WÈ maximise the involvement of children, young people and adults within the
community to develop and support our organisaty'on.
For us to achieve this we ensure Stranraer YMCA is..
Recognised as a good emptyer- to both paid and unpaid staff.
Ready lo optimise OFPOrtunities to develop, grow and approach this in a planned

The main aclivitEs of the charty during the year were organising and providing trained staff at
the various sessions and project$ within Stranraer YMCA and out in the community. details of
which are in the section below.

Achi•v•m¢nts and Performance
Stsff have completed some iralning courses this year. We are always on the look out for
refresher courses and any n8w courses that are available.
Our experienced team operate play sessions in Agnew ParK Stranraer, with the aim of
enGoura9ing children lage 5-12 years old) to get up and be active, to meet new people and
make friends in a fun and h'endly environment. This was also the case with our youth (age
12-17 years old) sessions, outdoor swrts, walking and fitness sessions.
This year we have engaged with over 1000 children and young people.
The feedback we receive from parents is positive and confirms that allowing child￿n and
young people to play freely away from electronics with the help of the staff at Stran￿r YMCA
does increase a chikl's confiden￿. their physical activty levels and well being whilstjust
having fun.
We are very fortunate to continue getting funding frorn D&G Councils Amazing Summer Fund,
which fund 7 jam packed weeks of fun for our primary age child￿Th. This funding allows us to
run 3 se55ion5 per week. providin9 tree lunches to all participants. The summer programme
was well attended by over 250 individual children and the feedback from participants. parents
and partners was brilliant. We hope to get funding again for Summer 2024.
Easter and October 2 week breaks we run a smaller scale programme, similar lo the summer
one and they are both well attended.

The chanty had a deficit for the year of £16,99412023. deficit of £3,880)
Unrestricted cash fvnds at the year end arrv)unts to £55.071.
The charity aims to hold reserves of approximately three months running Costs so that in the
event of a drop in income the charity Can maintain its current level of a¢tivilies for
reasonable period until replacement fvnding is obtained. At the year end charity had
reserves in excess of this policy.
Holywood Trust- Secured until March 2024- New application to be submitted
Dumfries & Galljway - Secured unlil October 2024
Funding will again b8 sought from different funder5 for small projects, and it is hoFed this will
be forthcoming.
Additional activities for external organisations e.g., schoo15 will be self-sustaining. Local
fundraising will continue to provKle the small extras we need.
All trustees will continue to support staff and volunteers Ihrough this difficult lime, making sure
that Covid guidelines are being followed at all times and ensuring staff feel safe. We are very
gratehjl to all our funders and appreciate their continued supp(Kt Thanks must also go to our
staff and hopefully11 will not be long until everything is back to noimal.

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees
I report on the accounts of the charity for the period ended 31 March 2024, which are set out
on pages 5 to 8.

The charity's trustees are ￿sponSIb￿ for the preparation of the accounts in a¢¢ordance with
the tems of the Charit￿$ and Trustee Investment (Scotland) 2005 Act and the Charities
Accounts {Scotlandl Regulats'ons 20C6. The charlty trustees consider that the audit
requirement of Regulation 10{1lld} of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my
responsibility lo examine the accounts as required under section 4411){c} ot the Act and to
state whether particular matters have come lo my allention.
Basis of independent examln¢¢s ststament
My examination is carried out in awrdance with the Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts
Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity
and a comparison of the a¢¢ounls presented with those records. It also includes
consideratr'on of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations
from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide
all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an
audrt opIn￿)n on the accounts.
