The Orkney Sheep Foundation is set up to support the keeping of native North Ronaldsay sheep on the foreshore of the island of North Ronaldsay. A significant burden for the island sheep keepers is the maintenance of the grade 1 listed sheep dyke, that keeps the sheep on the foreshore and away from the farmland. The OSF organises the annual Sheep Festival, when volunteers visit the island to help rebuild the dyke. It also consults for foundation repairs that are beyond the scope of the festival.

Objectives: 4 The organisation is established for charitable purposes only, and in particular, the objects are: 4.1 to advance environmental protection and animal welfare by ensuring the conservation of pure bred North Ronaldsay sheep on the Island of North Ronaldsay. and 4.2 to advance heritage by supporting the sustainable production of the breed by traditional methods through the restoration and maintenance of the Sheep Dyke.
