For the Year Ended 31 March 2025
The trustees are pleased to present their report and the financial statements for the
year ended 31 March 2025.
Structure. Govemance and Management
The Charity is an unincorporated voluntary association governed by its constitution
and registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator from 17 December
2014 (charity number SC 045291).
The Carnoustie Haven is a membership organisation, with membership open to all
volunteers. The affairs of the charity are managed by a Committee. who are the
trustees of the charity, and are elected annually at the AGM. In the event of the
resignation of an office bearer, an extraordinary general meeting is held by the
remaining trustees and attended by the other members to elect a replacement office
bearer.
The names of those who served as trustees during the year and other reference and
administrative information is shown on page 3.
Objectives and Activities
The main objects of the charity are
1 . To advance citizenship or community development by supporting charitable,
voluntary and non-profit making local community groups to enable public
participation in a range of community activities
2. To advance public health and mental well-being
Achievements and Perforniance
The Carnoustie Haven Chartty Shop is located on the High Street of Camoustie. The
shop is our focal point, and where we generate most of our income. The shop is
staffed by an army of volunteers. The concept is controlled by a dedicated team of
trustees who receive no financial benefit from the charity. When The Haven was
conceived, nobody could have anticipated the impact it would have on the town. We
return monies to the community at an annual Presentation Night and have handed
out funds in seven presentations to date, to local groups and good causes, and our
aim is to continue to do so. We try to donate to more diverse and different groups
and individuals at each presentation. We were thrilled to be able to return to our
usual format for the presentation night in May 2024, a fantastic evening held at the
Royal British Legion in Carnoustie where recipients attended to receive their
cheques in person. We were extremely pleased to be able to give a fantastic
£24,000 back to the community this year.
OUR PLACE IN THE COMMUNITY
The Haven is a prominent shop on the main street through the town and this,
together with occasional press coverage, is how we let people know we are here.

This raises our profile and we demonstrated that we are here to work within, and for,
the community.
All revenue raised in the shop, after deduction of rent, maintenance, power and
running costs, is returned to the community of Carnoustie through annual
presentations to organisations or individuals.
The shop is more than a charity shop, it has become a place for people to pop in and
feel welcome. It is well supported with very generous donations of clothing and other
items throughout the year. We are also very grateful for the continued generous
support of members of our community who regularly donate cash to the Haven to be
distributed at our presentations.
OUR PEOPLE
The Haven is run and managed by a team of committed people who care about the
community. Our motivation is to support the community and to give groups and
individuals a chance to obtain products, services and opportunities otherwise outwith
their immediate financial remit. We are pleased to have been able to return to
welcoming Duke of Edinburgh volunteers this year, who have made a fantastic
contribution to the running of the shop. We want to put a smile on the face of our
beneficiaries and make sure community spirit stays alive.
Financial Review
Details of income and expenditure can be found on page 7 and in the accompanying
notes.
Income from shop sales amounted to £35,059. Income from interest was £822.
Other income of £469 was received from donations.
Expenditure totalled £36,828, including 31 awards (Total - £24,000) which were
made this year as detailed in Note 6.
There was a deficit of £477 for the year leaving a total of £62,810 available for grant
making and operational costs.
Reserves Policy
Our reserves policy is to maintain a balance equal to 8 to 12 weeks of projected
revenue to cover unexpected costs and urgent donations. Reserves at the 31 st
March 2025 satisfied the policy.

Report of the Independent Examlner
To the Board of Trustees of the Carnoustie Haven
I report on the accounts of The Camoustie Haven for the year ended 31 March 2025,
which are set out on pages 6 to 10.
Respective responsibilities of Board of trustees and Examiner
The charity's Board of Trustees is responsible for the preparation of the accounts in
accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act
2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scolland) Regulations 2006 (the Regulations). The
Board of Trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the
Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as
required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters
have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities
Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination indudes a review of the
accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented
with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures
in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the Board of Trustees con￿mIng any
such matters. The prO￿dureS undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would
be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the
view given by the accounts.
Independent Examiner's statement
In the course of my examination. no matter has come to my attention
1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the
requirements:
to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1) (a) of the 2005
Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. and
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply
with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
have not been met. or
to which, in my opinion. attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper
understanding of the accounts to be reached.

l. Basis of accounting
The accounts have been prepared on a receipts and payments basis in accordance with the
Charities & Trustee Investment (Scotlandl Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotlandl
Regulations 2006 (as amended).
2. Nature and purpose of funds
Unrestrictedfunds can be used in furtherance of any of the charitable objects at the
discretion of the trustees. A single unrestricted fund is maintained for the day to day
operations of the Charity.
Restrictedfunds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the
charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for
particular restricted purposes.
All the funds of The Carnoustie Haven are unrestricted.
3. Trustees, remuneration and expenses
No remuneration was paid to trustees during the year and no expenses were reimbursed to
them.
