Sunrise Africa Relief Limited is a company limited by guarantee established on the 20 February
2014 and governed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association. The company was registered
as a charity in Scotland on 3rd June 2014. Membership is open to anyone who supports the aims of
the organisation.

The charity is managed by a board of trustees. called the management committee, elected at the
AGM from amongst the membership. Management committee members are appointed for a period
of two years and are eligible for re-appointment for a further term of years. The management
committee may also appoint members of the management committee subject to the maximum size
of 12 members.
Ob'ectives & Activities
The objects of the charity are to:
The prevention of poverty by supporting local philanthropy and transparent grant making
within Africa and the UK
The advancement of education by providing support and resources to schools and
educational bodies
The advantsment of health (including the prevention or relief of sickness, disease or human
suffering) through the provision of support and resources to clinics and first aid stations and
promoting the welfare of orphaned children.
The main activity of the charity is to raise fvnds that can be used to make grants to further the
above objects.

Support for Projects in Zambia
Madalisto Wils Sports Academy
During the year ending 28 February 2026, Sunrise Africa Relief Limited continued its commilment to
fostering positive change in Zambia by supporting several key initiatives. A major focus this year
was the ongoing partnership with Madalisto Wits Sports Academy, located near Ndola in Northern
Zambia. This support is central to the charity's mission of alleviating poverty, advancing education,
and improving health outcomes for vulnerable communities.
Since the slart of Ihe reporting period, Sunrise Africa Relief Limiled has provided the Madalisto Wits
Sports Academy with dedicated funding of £50 per month. This sustained support enables the
academy lo offer vulnerable and disadvantaged children's opportunities to develop and thrive. The
academy is more than just a ￿ntre for athletic training,. it is a transformative space where children
learn valuable life skills, build resilience, and receive character education in addition to sports
oaching. By engaging in structured physical activities and educalional programmes, these children
gain confidence. discipline, and a renewed hope for the future.
Through partnerships like this. the charity no¥ only fosters the holistic development of young people
in Zambia but also contributes to the long-tem upliftment of communities. The positive changes
seen in the lives of participants at Madalisto Wits Sports Academy are a testament to the power of
targeted philanthropy and consistent support. Sunrise Africa Relief Limited remains deeply grateful

Barlastone Park School in Lusaka supporting the renovating of classrooms and loilets.
Barlastone Park School in Lusaka has embarked on a significant renovation project. focusing on
upgrading both classrooms and toilet facilities. This initiative aims to create a safer, healthier, and
more conducive learning environment for pupils and staff alike. Improved classrooms will provide
better spaces for teaching and leaming, while refurbished toilets will enhance hygiene standards
throughout the school. These developments support the charity's objective of advancing education
and promoting the well-being of children by ensuring that basic infrastruclure meets essential
standards. By investing in such improvements, the school is helping to lay the foundation for
brighter futures and empowering young minds in the local community.
Sandwe village grinding mill in Eastem Zambia now completed and is now operational

that essential infrastructure is in place to serve vulnerable populations. Sunrise Africa Relief Limited

University Tuition Fees Sponsorship for Miss EUn￿U Sakala
In line with its mission to advance education and empower individuals from disadvantaged
backgrounds, Sunrise Africa Relief Limiled provided sponsorship for university tuition fees for Miss
Eun-Ju Sakala during the year ending 28 February 2026. This initiative reflects the charity s

Nyamphande village community ￿ntre building completed. and fanning workshops held for young
people
The construction of the Nyamphande village community centre has now been successfully
completed, marking a significant step forward in supporting local development initiatives. What is
remaining is the installation of electricity and a second borehole. This new centre provides a
dedicated, safe space for community galherings, educational activilies, and skill-building
programmes, directly benefiting the residents of Nyamphande and surrounding areas.
Following the completion of the building, a series of faming workshops were organised for young
people in the village. These workshops have focused on practical agricultural skills, sustainable
farming practices, and entrepreneurship in agribusiness. By equipping young participants with
essential knowledge and hands-on experience, the initiative aims to foster self-reliance, enhance
food security, and create new pathways for income generation within the community.
This project aligns with Sunrise Africa Relief Limited's mission to empower communities and
support youth development through targeted interventions. The charity extends its gratitude to all
donors and supporters whose contributions have made the completion of the community centre and

Makale village Clinic matemity wing Annexe completed
The completion of the Makale village Clinic matemity wing annexe represents a significant
advancement in healthcare provision for the local community.
What is remaining is medical equipment, beds and fixtures and fittings. This vitsl extension offers
improved facilities for expectant mothers, ensuring safer deliveries and better postnatal care for
both mothers and newboms. The annexe is equipped to support skilled healthcare professionals in
providing essential matemity services. Ihereby reducing the risks associated with childbirth and
contributing to improved maternal and infant health outcomes in the region.
This accomplishment is closely aligned with Sunrise Africa Relief Limited's ongoing commitment to
strengthening community wellbeing and expanding access to essenlial services. By investing in
healthcare infrastructure, the charity is helping to address critical needs and promote healthier,

Annual Christmas Lunch Held in Dunferniline in December
The annual Christmas lunch was successfully held in Dunfermline in December, bringing together
members of the local community and supporters of Sunrise Africa Relief Limited. This festive
gathering provided an opportunity for attendees to connect, celebrate the season, and reflect on the
charity's achievements throughout the year. The event featured a traditional Christmas meal, warm
hospitality, and moments of gratitude, with participants sharing stories and expressing appreciation
for the ongoing efforts to support vulnerable communities al home and abroad.
The organisation extends heartfelt thanks to all who attended and volunteered, whose generosity
and spirit of togetherness made the Christmas lunch a memorable occasion and reinforced the
values of compassion and giving within the community.

partnerships. helping to support vulnerable children and improve local infrastructure.
Sunrise Africa Relief Limited extends its gratitude to all participants, organisers, and supporters for

resounding success and furthering the charity's mission. The charity is hopeful that this will become

Chicago USA Olympbc Triathlon fundraiser completed by Stephan Williamson in August 2025
an example of individual initiative.
The suc￿Ssful completion of the ol￿npiC Triathlon in Chicago, USA, by Stephan Williamson in
August 2025 stands as a prime example of personal initiative, with his fundraising efforts making a

In conclusion, Sunrise Africa Relief Limited wishes to extend its deepesl gratitude to everyone who
has supported its mission throughout the year. The achievements realised- and the completion of
vital projects, to the spirited fundraising events in Scotland and abroad-are a testament to the
remarkable generosity, commitment, and teamwork of our donors, volunteers, and community
partners. Each contribution, whether financial, organisational. or personal, has played an invaluable
role in enabling us to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals both locally
and internationally.
We thank all who attended, participated, volunteered. and donated, reinforcing the values of
ompassion and collective action that lie at the heart of our organisation. The trustees would like to
thank Catriona Valenta, Yvonne Marsh, Eric Williamson, Ashley Crosthwaite, Donald MacAlpine,
Dale Rose and Heidrun Williamson. A special thankyou also to Anne Harkins and Margaret
Cuthbert for their knitting of woollen hats and jumpers for babies and which could be distributed in
Sandwe village in Eastem Zambia. The continued support of all is not only appreciated. but
essential to the ongoing success of Sunrise Africa Relief Limited and the communities we serve.

Financial Review
Despite the challenges posed by the global economic downturn, we managed our resources
efficiently, ensuring that all our funds were directed towards our charitable projects. We are grateful
to our donors and supporters whose generosity has enabled us to make a meaningful impact in the
lives of countless individuals and communities in Africa.
The charity's income for the year was £6,517 primarily from donalions and fundraising. Overall
expenditure was £9,640 with £7,529 provided in grants. This resulted in a deficit for the year of
£3,123 which was funded from reserves brought for¥vard from the previous year. Al the 28 February
2026, the charity held lotal funds of £2.754.
The charity aims to hold a free or general reserve of £4,000 to ensure there are sufficient funds
available to meet liabilities as they fall due. The general or free reserve is the unrestricted funds of
the charity at the year-end less the value of any tangible assets or designated funds. With a general
reseNe of £2,754 at the 28 February 2026 the trustees had not met this target.

I report on the financial statements of Sunrise Africa Relief for the year ended 28 February 2026
which are set out on pages 15 to 19.
Responsibilities and basis of report
The charity's trustees (who are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company law)
are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the
Charities and Trustee Investment {Scotland} Act 2005 (Ihe 2005 Act") and the Charities Accounts
(Scotland) Regulations 2006 ("the 2006 Regulations.) and the Companies Act 2006.
I have satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under Regulation (101{1)(a)-{c) of the
2006 Regulations or company law and is eligible for independent examination. I have therefore
examined your charity's accounts as required under section (44}(1)(c) of the 2005 Act and
Regulation 11 of the 2006 Regulations. In carying out my examination I have followed the
guidance issued to independent examiners by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCRI.
My role is to state whether any material matters have come to my attention giving me cause to
believe:

1. Basis of Preparation
1.18asis of accounting
These accounts have been prepared on the basis of historic cost in accordance with:
(a) The Charities & Trustee Inveslment Act (Scotland) Act 2005, and
(b) The Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 as amended
(c) The Company's Act 2006
(d) Financial Reporting Standard 102 (FRS102) (Effective January 2015),
(e) Charities SORP (FRS 102) (2nd edition effective January 2019)
No changes have been made to the basis of preparation or to the previous year's accounts.
1.2. In preparing the accounts, the trustees were not required to make any judgements that would
have a material effect on the numbers reported.
1.3 The charity meets the definition of a public benefit entity as defined by FRS102.
1.4 The charity is dependent on the continuing support of donors. However, the trustees
have no reason to consider that this will not continue or ihat there are any material uncertainties
about the charity s ability to continue as a going concem.
2. Accounting Polices
2.1 Form of Financial Statements
The charity maintains iwo types of funds for accounting purposes: _
(a) A general unrestricted fund that can be expended at the discretion of the trustees on furthering
the objects of the charity, and
(b) Restricted funds that may only be used for specific purposes. Restrictions arise when specified
by the donor or when funds are raised for specific purposes.
2.2 Income
(a) Income is recognised and included in the Slatement of Financial Activities (SOFA) when the
charity becomes entitled to the resOur￿S,. their receipt is probable,. and the monetary value can be
measured with sufficient reliability.
(bl Where income has related expenditure the income and related expenditure are reported gross in
the SOFA.
(c) Funds received in advan￿ and which specifically relate lo a future accounting period are treated
as deferred income.

2.3 Expenditure & Liabilities
(a) Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis.
(b) Liabilities are recognised as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation to pay out
resources,. it is probable they will be paid and the monetary value can be measured with sufficient
reliability.
2.4 Assets
Tangible fixed assets are capitalised rf they have a value greater than £300 and can be used for
more than one year. They are valued at cost or. if gifted, at their value on receipt.
Depreciation is calculated on a slraight-line basis to write off the cosl of tangible assets over their
useful economic lrfe as follows;
Fixtures, fittings and equipment- 33.33°/o Straight line.
2.5 Debtors
{al Debtors are recognised at the settlement amount due
(b} Prepayments are valued at the amount prepaid
2.6 Cash
Cash at bank and in hand includes cash and bank deposits repayable on demand
2.7 Creditors
(a) Creditors are recognised where the charity has an obligation resulting from a past event that will
probably result in the Iransfer of funds to a third party and the amount due can be measured or
estimated reliably. Creditors are normally recognised at their setllement amount, usually the invoice
amount.
(b) Accrued charges are nomially valued at their settlement amount.
2.8. Financial Instruments
The charity only has financial assets and financial liabilities of a kind that qualify as basic financial
instruments. Basic financial instruments are initially recognised at transaction value and
subsequently measured at their settlemerrt value.
2.9 Taxation
The charity is not liable to income or capital gains tax on its charitable activities. Irrecoverable VAT
is included in the asset cost or expense to which il relates.
