Chairman’s Report May 2026
This last year has been yet another busy year for the hall. The Vintage Rally in July was well supported, with the playpark being very busy. Following feedback resulting from our community questionnaires, we had a taster session of Line Dancing in September, run by Alison Foulis. This has proved to be very popular and now continues as a weekly event. The Family Bingo night also in September was a lot of fun and saw many children attending and getting into the spirit of it. Our Harvest Home in October was another good night with music by Murray Cowie and an entertaining speech by Thelma Bruce. November saw the St Ninian’s Art & Craft Fair weekend, the very enjoyable Race Night, and the Tree Lighting, which was switched on by Linda Bonner. The Christmas Lunch in December was again enjoyed by many of our over 60s parishioners. With our fun Quiz Night in April and our busy Plant Sale & Teas earlier this month, we’ve continued to provide successful entertaining events. The hall has also continued to be well used throughout the year with weekly and monthly activities and clubs, such as Pilates, Blether & Brew, Ladies Badminton, Craft Club, Over 60s, SWI, Book Club, Drama Group, Sewing Classes and Bowls. The campsite continues to be well used and along with Hall bookings for private functions, have generated steady income and allowed us to maintain the building and invest in its successful future.
As well as on-going maintenance, we have undertaken some fairly major renovations this year with replacing facia boards, external doors and replacing fluorescent lighting with LEDs. We also had new high-speed Wi-Fi installed recently.
One of our main concerns at the beginning of the year, was the impending retirement of our dedicated and long serving Hall Keeper, Linda Bonner. We are delighted to have a replacement in Tracy Leslie, who took over on the 1[st ] of April, and we wish her well in the post.
None of these events and activities run themselves, and their success is down to all the hard work and enthusiasm from the hall committee and often their families as well. From planning, to advertising, baking, serving, washing up and final clear up, thank you all for your valued time and tireless efforts.
