Fornwl purpose of the charlty
SU8C was register8d as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation by
constitution resolution dated 13th March 2014.
The principal activity of the charity is the promotion, learning and teaching of Bridoe in the
inte￿t of social welfare, wtth the aim of improving th8 corKlitions of life for the P￿SonS
using the facilities or participating in the activities of The Club.
Any person may apply for mombership. The Board will decide whether to admit any
person to membership.
The Board is re-elected at the AGM each year. The Board controls the activities of the
orqanisation. The members of The Board are known as the Chanty Trustees and any new
Board Member is given induction training {S8e Appendix 1) which will anable the rEw
Board Member to understand and familiarise themselves With the Charities Constitution,
our decision-making processes and the aims of the charfty. Ongoing training is provided
to Trustees as required.
SUBC is r8cognised as a Scottish Charity by Ihe OSCR and is 8x￿1p1 from taxation. Tho
trusteps have no liability in Ihe event of the charity being wound up The trustees are
listed on Page 2. They are unpaid and only receive reimbursement tor expenses incurred
by them whilst carrying out duties for the charrty.
Mealth and Safety
Tha board will continue lo b8 responsible for ensuring regular risk assessments an¢
procedures are catTied out and followed. The nsk register will be updated on an annual
basis and any new regulations or actions requinng implementation a￿ fed back to Board
Mernbers and Club M8mbers as rèquired.
Actlvfties arKI Accounts
The accounts cover the period from 1 st April 2024 to the 31 st March 2025 and ara
pr8pare(J on a receipts and payments basis.
Some members still prefer to play online but th8 vast majorty play face to face at the
club. Currently we have around 155 members. Teaching continues throughout the year
wrth the average class siz8 b8ing from 8 to g with two sessions per year.
In othober over 40 m8mb8rs and fri8nds enjoyed an afterrK)on of Contract Bridge irt aid
of the MND charbty Aftemoon lea. sandwiches and home made cakes were s@rved and at
the end of the day OV8f £2,000 was raised.
In November the members play￿ in a national competition at the club. This was SFfead
over several sessions and raised in total over £600 for the charity Children in Need.
The accounts show a Surplus for the year of £1,274 {including Bank Interest), and tatal
tunds remain healthy at £56.602 as at 31 st March, 2025 and with no liabilities.

Th8 Boafty considers that SUBC is not exposed to any rnajor risk. The Board will continue
to r8view risks and 8stab118h procedures and polbcies to mltigate those that are identffied
as slgnificant.
The Board aims to have Ca3h which will cover at least 3 months expenditure. The club
exceeded this aim throughout the accounting per50d 1 st April 2024 to 31 st March 2025.

The Board will prepare accounts for each monlh which will show the receipts and
paymonts for that month.

The Board meets onc8 a month to consider and review the monthly accounts and any
othor matters appertaining to the club. Mlnute3 are taken and retain8d.
The Board is responsible for k8eping proper accourrting records which disclose at any
time wrth reasonable accuracy the financial position of the charily and enable Ihem to
ensure that the accounts comply with the Charrties Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006
(as am8nd8d) Th8y are responsib18 for th8 safeguarding of th8 ass8ts of the charity and
hence lor taking responsible st8ps for the preventlon and detection of fraud and other
irregularities.

The Charity's Board is ￿spOnSible for the pr8paration ol the accounts in accordane8 wlth
the 18rms of the Charities and Trustee Investment Iscolland) Act 2tK)5 and the Charities
Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2008. The Charity trust88s conslder that the audrt
requirements of Regulations10 {1 > (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. h is my
r8sponslbillty to examln8 th8 accounts as required under s8Ction 44(1) of the Act and to
stat8 whether particular mattérs have com8 to my attention.
Basls of Independent Exarnlner￿ Statement
My 8xamination is carried out in accordance with Régulations 11 of the Charltie3
Accounts (Scotlandl Flegulations 20C6 (as amended), An examlnation Includes a r8view of
the accounting r8cords kept by the charity and a comparison of th8 accounts presented
wrth those records. li also includes consideratlon of any unusual items or disc108ur08 in
the accounts and seeks explanations from the trust88s concemlng any such matters. The
procedur88 undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit
and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.
