The activities of the Charity are governed by the Trust Deed. The Charity is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (a SCIO). It was registered in its current legal form on 23 January 2014. The Charity was previously an unincorporated association were transferred to the SCIO on the 23[rd] January 2014. Trustee recruitment and appointment The management committee which normally meets monthly are the charity’s trustees. Membership of the management committee is open to all parents and guardians of children in the preschool group. Trustees are elected at the annual general meeting which is held in September. Objectives and activities ~~t=~~ Charitable purposes The principal activity of the company in the year under review was that of preschool education for three to five year old children. The charity’s objective is to advance the education and social development of pre-school children with the emphasis on the play experience, so that they become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors, and take a constructive place in the community. Summary of the main activities in relation to these objects To further these aims, Stonelaw Preschool seeks to provide safe and enjoyable learning through play. The charity also supports parents in the development of their child. Learning begins at birth and continues throughout our lives. We adhere to the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence which aims to give every child the opportunity to realise their potential. It promotes in children the ability to learn and to reflect on their learning and equips them with the necessary skills for life and work in line with Building The Ambition guidance. At Stonelaw Preschool all our activities are planned to meet the curriculum outcomes and to provide a variety of learning experiences that challenge and progress what each child already knows. Together staff and children participate in the planning process through personalisation and choice.

Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of The 2024/2025 saw another successful year at Stonelaw Preschool, with various the charity during the financial period achievements and encouragements noted throughout the year. The management committee and nursery team had a very positive year of fundraising and community involvement, which helped the financial stability of the nursery, alongside developing further links with local groups. Fundraising events included: a scavenger hunt, Christmas Fayre, Carol Singing, Crazy Hair Day and making/selling Easter Cards. Staff training this session has focused on role-specific learning linked to our champion areas (where each member of staff covers a particular topic) Training development and opportunities have continued for staff this session, along with any new staff who have joined the team. The Preschool has strived to engage families as much as possible with stay and play events, introducing home learning packs and various day trips throughout the year.

The Preschool has continued to develop its links with the community with various activities such as: Christmas Carol Singing in the local shopping centre and at the local care home, planting and caring for garden beds in Grow 73, weekly Boogie Beats sessions and ongoing use of community book bags to promote early literacy. Financial review Brief statement of the charity’s policy It is the policy of the Charity to maintain 3 months unrestricted funds in order to on reserves meet financial commitments as they fall due and ensure that sufficient funds are in place to meet any unexpected expenditure. Donated facilities and services (if any)

We are supported additionally through donations of funds and materials from parents and family members of children. We hold various fundraising events and activities to help this further. We also occasionally receive donations from local businesses and organisations.

The nursery operates from Stonelaw Parish Church which is ideally situated in the heart of the community that we serve. As landlords, the church recognises the important position that the nursery holds within the Rutherglen area and is generally very supportive of all the nursery activities.
