It is with a mix of pride, gratitude, and a touch of sadness that we bring this chapter of the Dundee Women's Festival to a close. This festival has been more than just an annual event; it has been a beacon of hope, a source of inspiration, and a powerful voice for gender equality in our community.
Over the years, the Dundee Women’s Festival has grown to become a proud and cherished part of our city's cultural fabric. Through countless events, workshops, and discussions, we have raised awareness of the vital issues surrounding gender equality. We have brought together people from all walks of life to celebrate the achievements of women, challenge societal norms, and forge new paths towards a more equitable future.
This year’s festival was no exception. I am pleased to share that our events were not only successful but also mostly well-attended. The enthusiasm and engagement we witnessed reaffirmed the importance of this festival and the impact it has had on so many lives. Whether it was through the powerful stories shared, the enlightening panel discussions, or the creative expressions of art and culture, we have once again proven that when we come together, we can drive change.
However, as we all know, the past year has presented us with unprecedented challenges. Like many organisations, we have faced financial difficulties and the loss of key leadership. Despite our best efforts, we have had to make the difficult decision to close down the Dundee Women’s Festival.
But as we reflect on this decision, let us not view it as an end but rather as a celebration of what we have accomplished together. The legacy of this festival will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of everyone who participated, supported, and believed in our cause. The conversations we have sparked, the connections we have made, and the progress we have championed will endure.
To all the volunteers, supporters, attendees, and directors who have been part of this incredible journey, we extend our deepest thanks. Your passion, dedication, and
unwavering commitment have been the lifeblood of this festival. Together, we have made a difference.
As we close this chapter, let us carry forward the spirit of the Dundee Women’s Festival in our daily lives. Let us continue to advocate for equality, support one another, and work towards a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of gender or how someone identifies.
Thank you all for being part of this remarkable journey. While the festival may be ending, the movement it represents will continue, stronger and more resilient than ever.
Thank you.

DWF Treasurer’s Report and Financial Summary 31/03/23 - 31/03/2024
This is an outline of the Groups accounts for the year up to 31/03/2024. It will be submitted to an Independent Examiner to ensure it shows the full extent of the finances for the year., once agreed upon by the group.
The major outgoings for the group concentrated around the payment of Solicitors Fees for legal advice obtained on certain matters.
As usual we are extremely grateful for the ongoing cycle of essential work Alison Powrie provides the group. She definitely keeps us going. We are also extremely grateful to all of our supporters, sponsors, donators and partners for their generous contributions which enable the continuation of the event.
This year the group was required to produce a Monetary Reserves policy to ensure the continuation of the event. The amount agreed upon was based on the average expenditure of the last 5 years of £7000. Unfortunately, this greatly exceeds the money the group currently holds and may alter the future of the festival.
On approval of this report, it will be submitted online to OSCR, the independent Regulator and registrar for Scotland’s charities as is required annually.
