on 8 October 2013 and is govemed by its constitution.
The Gharity is made up of its trnstees who are the only members. They are able appoint further
iruslees to serve until the following Annual General Meeting when all the trustees must retire from
office but are eligible for re-election.

The charity was sel up by Vin and Marityn Ha￿lS to realise thelr vlslon to help others in such a way
that they will, in turn, be able to benefit others.
The main object of Hart Knowe Trust is the a(fvancement of education. providing opportunities for
training and the development of human polential to improve the quality of individuals, own lives and
enable them to help others. It is also established to relieve poverty and distress, and advance
community development by assisting voluntsry organisations, chanlies and other social enterwises lo
further their effectiveness.

During the year Hart Knowe Trust continued to give grants and fjnancial support to individuals and
organisations to further educational opportunities, to relieve povety and to assist charities develop
their capacity. The charity, represented by Vin Harris {trsJsteel provided advice, mentoring and
V￿rkShopS to further mindfulness and other educational opportunities. Hart Knowe Trust has
continued to develop and support Compassion in Action projects in India, Turkey, Nepal and
Scouand.

them to achieve more than they imagined. Hart Knowe Trust supports mindfulness training because
we are aware of how it empowers people to take r88ponsibility for their ovm lives, and it lends to
awaken the aspiration to help others.
Innovations in Mindfulness
Sinc8 2022, when we launched the fi￿1 'lnnovations in Mindfulness Awards. the Hart Knowe Trust
has been WOTking with The Mindfvlness Initiative {5￿.theM1ndfUlnessin1tlat1Ve.0rg), a leading UK
based organisats'on. Our shared purpose is to make mindfulness accessible to all areas of society
Ihrough encouraging and supporting innovation and creativity in the field of mindfulnéss.

In 2023 we developed a new website.- Innovations in Mindfulness to promote the Innovations In
Mindfulness Awards, to prowde resources and to establish a LX)mmunty of mindfulness innovators

). The website now has an active Blog wth contributions from the
Innovations in Mindfulness community. As well as providing free access lo the'Fieldbook for
Mindfulness Innovators,, 'Sharing Your Treasure- a Workbook for Mindfulness Innov8tors' has been
added. The development of this publication was funded by Hart Knowe Trust. The Workbook was
launched al the Manchester Mindfulness Festival. Hart Knowe Trust Was a key sponsor for this event
because it shares our aim of sharing the benefits of mindfulness with a wider audience.
In 2022 and 2024 we supported the 1" and 2nd "Innovations in Mindfvjlness Awards with the aim of
celebrating achievements and encouraging innovative approaches for helping individuals and
communilies who currently do not have access to high quality mindfulness training. S¢)me of the
finalists and winners of these awards continue to develop Iheir innovative ideas with advice and
mentoring from our trustee. Vin HaTTiS.
The winner of the 2024 Awards, BAM! Boxing and Mindfulness for inner city youth groups from
hAindful Peak Performance received a grant from Hart Knowe Trust to develop a pilot proiect with
Loughborough University. The project teaches sports coaches and mentors to bring mindfulness into
their work with young athletes. This initiative is regarded as being aligned with Sir Gareth Southgate's
mission to encourage mentoring and positiv8 role models to young people. Following the successful
pilot course, Loughborough University has now commissioned Mindful Peak Performance to deliver
further training to their teaching staff.

Your Treasure
As a result of our invofvement with various mindfulness projects, Win Harris became increasingly
aware of the potential benefits Ihal can be achieved Ihrough helping meditation teachers connect with
groups and individuals who may have thought that meditation was not for them.
On behalf of Hart Knowe Trust, Vin created 8 pioneering enterprise training programme for
mindfulnesslmeditation teachers called 'Sharing Your Treasure.. This unique pr(KJramme helps
people explore sustainable ways to tum their h8art-felt aspirations into effective action.
Sharing Your Treasure has been delivered for organisations including:
Tergar- an intemational meditation c(Mnmunity
The Mindfulness Initiatrve- an organisation championing the Inner dimension of social
change.
Tergar Institut8- an educational college in Nepal bridging tradition and Innovation.
We have funded and launched the "Sharing Your Treasure Workboow, a resource for mindfulness
teachers to serve as a practical guide, offering frameworks and insights to navigate th8 evolving
landscape of mindfulness training. The next step in this project, a 4-week training course based on
the Wothok, has been tested and is now being made available in the UK and Europe.

Hart l<nowe Trust ¢ontinu8S to give financial support for Ihe distribution of humanitarian aid to people
living in Bodhgaya, Bihar, one of the poorest regions of India. Although the Trustees have not been
able lo visit the projects this year, we have sent trusled representatives to India to review the existing
projects and to find out what more we can do to build on the foundations that have been est8blished.
Conversations are underway to recruit and train a team of vdunteers wth connection5 to Akong
Rinpoche's organisations who will be able to manage the Soup Kitchen on behalf of Hart Knowe
Trust.
The local wnneclions we have made over many years continue to pass on fvnds and monitor the
oiects. Food has been distributed by the-soup Kitchen Project" and initiatives to improve glrls.
hostel faciltties in nearby villages have been increased. The Scholarship project has been successfvjl
in giving young people in the Bodhgaya area the opportunity to improve their education, enhancing
the prospects for themselves and their families.
Other Locations
Ongoing funding has helped Syrian refug8es and other vulnerable people inTurkey. Our support has
enabled an organisation with trusted local connections to keep up their support of refugees and the
poor in Izmir. In addition to providing food and shelter. they have provided legal advice and supported
education through their classes teaching Turkish and art to Syrian refugee childr8n. They also made
physiotherapy available for children with earthquake and war injuries and those with cerebral palsy.
We continue to provide much needed regular support for education in a remote Tibetan Nunnery in
Nepal. In Scotland and the rest of the UK, grants were given to individual5 in difficult circumstances.
We donated funds in response to the humanitarian emergency in Gaza and supported the Scottish
r Ambulance Charity to help them provide emergency health services in remote areas.

a Remarkable Life
Hart Knowe Trust was invclved in funding, produang and dislributing the award-wnning film"Akong-a
Remarkable Life". The film tells the moving life story of the late Akong Rinpoche, an eminent Buddhist
teacher and humanitarian who was a life-long friend. mentor and teacher to the founders of Hart
Knowe Trust.
More Than One Lrfe
The Hart Knowe Trust is now operating in 8 similar role to create an educalronal film, which begins
where the first film ends. The new film is called -more Than One Life- a joumey into the heart and
science of reincarnation..
Thi5 is seen as a long'temi prciecL and Ihe team continues to film in depth interviews ￿￿[h experts
represenling a vdide range of views on reincamation.

Our website www.hartknowe.org has been redesigned to reflecl our recent achievements. It
continue5 to be a valuable way to communicate our values and aspirations as we collaborate with
organisations and individuals in the pursuit of shared obiectrves and positive outcomes.
Donations in kind
The charity received office facilities donated by Mr. and Mrs. Harris.
ReseNes
The trustees have set the minimum level of reserves at £50,000. They consider that this will provide
for any commitments Ihe charity may have made and, in the event of winding up, be sufficient to cover
costs and outstanding liabilities.
The amount ca￿led forward at the end of this year will provide sufficienl funds to complete the
planned development of the above projects and wll also enable the charity to support other future
initiatives as they arise.

I report on the accounts of the tharity fc* the year ended 31st October 2025.
Rospoctive rosponsibilities of TThsiees and examiner
The charity's Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance withthe
terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scouand) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts
Iscouandl Regulations 2006.
The Trustees consider that the audf( requirement of Regulalion 10{1) Id) of the Accounts
Regulations does nol apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under
section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to stale whether particular matters have ciwne to myattention.
Baslg of Independent examlnerf¥ statsment
My examination is carried out in accordan￿ with Regulation 11 of the Charitie5 Accounts (Scotland)
Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the a(￿untIng records kept by the charity
and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of
any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanalions from the Trustees
conceming any such matters. The procedures undertaken donot provide all the evidence that would
be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit Opinic￿ on the view given by the
accounts.
