Objectives and activities
Our charitable purpose is to advance the education and social development of pre-school children with the emphasis on the play experience so that they become successful learners, confident individuals and effective contributors and take a constructive place in the community.
Our main activities are the provision of daily childcare and learning for pre-school children from the age of two, including outdoor play and a wide range of learning activities
Our aims are:
-
Providing an inclusive, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere where children and their families feel happy, safe and secure with staff that are open and approachable.
-
Helping children to develop social skills in order to support them to interact with each other, share and respect and value others and their environment.
-
Providing a wide variety of play based and child centred experiences supporting the children to develop confidence and self- esteem as they learn.
-
Actively listening to the children whilst supporting them to develop independence, make choices and decisions and to take ownership of their learning.
-
Providing a creative environment where children can explore and express themselves across the curriculum using open ended resources.
-
Continuing to develop the opportunities for outdoor and forest school experiences whilst developing an awareness of their community in a gender neutral environment.
-
Involving children in their own risk assessment and management helping them to build resilience and prepare them for a healthy and happy future.
-
Supporting the children to develop an understanding that there are consequences for their actions.
-
Developing a community of learning through sharing knowledge and skills and working in partnership with parents, learning from each other in the process.
-
Working with other agencies and using their specialist knowledge to support children who require additional support in their learning and development.
-
Using pedagogical documentation to support children to revisit, evaluate and make connections in their learning; developing higher order thinking skills along the way.
-
Providing a wide variety of experiences to support the children to develop knowledge and skills for life and learning.
Achievement and performance
This year we completed the move to our new forever home in a purpose fitted out nursery classroom at Eassie Primary School. The staff worked extremely hard to make this move a success and to make the new room the best possible learning and play environment for the children. The new furniture, equipment and play resources are high quality and allow for a wide range of play provocations and learning experiences. The outdoor space is still under development but already features a pagoda, bird feeding area and hard standing. The team have settled the children in and have a great daily routine which includes free play, lots of outdoor time and yoga.
Staff have developed a strong relationship with the Eassie Primary School undertaking joint projects and enabling the children to feel part of one community.
We have recently restarted weekly forest school sessions on the Newtyle Path Network which have been a huge success and enabled the children to more deeply explore their connection with nature.
We are delighted to have added an apprentice to our team. We have new member of staff who has fitted very well into the staff team and is brilliant with the children, she will be with us 4 days a week while she completes her SVQ training.
Declaration
The trustees declare that they have approved the Trustees report.
