We're in the heart of a deprived area - built on a patch of derelict ground in the middle of housing. We encourage people to spend time outdoors in nature which is scientifically proven to improve mental health. It improves their physical health as they're working on maintaining their own raised bed and the communal areas of the garden. We promote social inclusion and community engagement which is also good for people's mental health and for the overall community. As well as bringing garden members together to work on a collective project, we organise free open days throughout the year for all the community with free food from the garden. We also allow other charities to host free events in the garden e.g. tai chi. We keep membership costs as low as possible - £25 per year for a raised bed and use of the tools and polytunnel. We maintain a small orchard at the corner of Lochend Quadrant which provides free food to passers by.
