Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity During the period 2023-24, A Moment’s Peace Theatre Company SCIO during the financial period (AMP) delivered its programme of participatory arts through its two wellestablished groups: Women’s Creative Company and Shared Space. Most of this delivery was funded by Creative Scotland through AMP’s Possible Worlds project. For Women’s Creative Company, this culminated in September with 2 sell-out performances entitled We Incite This Meeting… at the Tron Theatre, in September 2023, engaging 13 participants and an audience of 180. For Shared Space, this resulted in a new partnership with the Common Ground project at CCA, where over 20 participants engaged and 10 participated in a private storytelling performance in the CCA in October 2023. Through the above, AMP was able to engage 9 new freelance staff alongside an existing freelance team of 8, and 2 core employed staff. In 2023, AMP developed both existing and new partnerships with venues and organisations. Kinning Park Complex continued to be the main delivery for Women’s Creative Company, and a new relationship with Common Ground began in Summer 2023, where Shared Space workshops were subsequently delivered. This move to a city-centre venue attracted new participants and resulted in improved attendance. In April 2023, Women’s Creative Company was invited by FiLiA to present a performance at their Autumn conference. A video installation of We Incite This Meeting… was presented there, where approximately 2,000 women, including Women’s Creative Company members were in attendance. Finally, in January 2024, Wise Women SCIO delivered a Women’s Safety Course with participants from both Women’s Creative Company and Shared Space. Having planned to co-deliver our outstanding project The Same Cloth with Wise Women SCIO, approval was granted by the funder The Longstone trust, to hand over funds and delivery responsibility to Wise Women. The project will be delivered there adhering to the original proposal.
Following this extremely busy period, with core staff stretched and funds depleted, AMP’s board of trustees made the difficult decision to apply to wind up the charity. The utmost care has been taken to ensure continuation of activity for all AMP’s existing participants. Thanks to the existing partnership, Common Ground has taken over the funding and delivery of Shared Space workshops, with activity guaranteed for at least two years. Following a successful application to OSCR, permission was granted for AMP to close and transfer remaining funds to In Cahootz Ltd – a charity carrying out similar activates and with similar charitable aims to AMP. Women’s Creative Company will continue there in the short-term, where participants are considering transitioning to a fully community-led model.
