Jazz from Scotland Report of the Trustees for the Year ended 30 September 2021

The Trustees of Jazz from Scotland (JfS) have taken the decision to close down the organisation. This decision has been carefully made by the Board in response to the changing needs of the jazz sector in Scotland. We would like to thank everyone in the jazz and wider music community for their support and engagement during our years of operation, both as Jazz from Scotland and formerly as the Scottish Jazz Federation.

As a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SC043990) JfS has served to advance arts, culture and education in jazz both in Scotland and on the international scene. JfS has represented Scottish jazz both at home and across the wider UK and international sectors and we are delighted that we have been able to showcase such a rich diversity of talent in this time. This has included supporting the Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year events, a major conference Stand Out! in Glasgow in collaboration with the Jazz Promotion Network, being an active member of the Europe Jazz Network, as well as building a Scottish presence at the annual international jazzahead! trade fair in Bremen and supporting Scottish musicians to attend the event.

We are very grateful to Creative Scotland for the support they have given JfS and will undoubtedly continue to give the jazz sector in Scotland. It has been a privilege to provide a voice for Scottish jazz.

No grant applications were submitted during this financial year.

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of Jazz from Scotland

I report on the accounts for the year ended 30 September 2021 set out on pages three to five.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity's trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1)(d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under Section 44(1)(c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of the independent examiner's report

My examination was carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

Independent examiner's statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
