Progression
This has been a successful year for our gymnasts, coache5, and the club and a period of change. Our tearn of coache5,
gymnasts, parents, carers board and partners continue io work together to create a high performing and fun environment
where our children, young people and families feel safe. have fun. and develop their ski115 and aspirations through
gymnasrics.
Our coaches and management have planned and programtned the classes and trainin4 enwronments over the last 12
months to ensure every child, young person and gymnasts has the best possible experience irrespective of their ambitions.
Whether Lhey are here for fun, 50ciali5ing or to compete for their club or country. Our tnetnbership has 5tabilised wlh
over six hundred members this year with all classes and trainin£ programmes delivered face to face. Gymnastics Is an
exciting sport for everyone, and we have continued to attract new children, young people and gymnasts whilst maintaining
our core membership. We have a high performing team, and I would like to take this opportunity io ihank them for
everything they do, their hard work, commitment, and loyalty, including that extra rnile, which is not always about
teaching or coaching gymnastics.

OUR PEOPLE
Gymnasts
2022-2023 has been a fantastic year for our gymnasts at all levels, including preschool, novice, recreational,
intermediate, and competitive. Fun, improvement, new ski115, and great performances have been the f(Kus throughout
the year.
The club have achieved itnpre55ive results throughout the 5ea50n, and we have watched (¥Jr children, young people and
gymnasts progress through the grades and achieve success at local, Scottish, British, and international level.
This year we have had nlne gymnasts selected onto the MAG/WAG Performance Pathway Programme and three gymnasrs
selected onto the National Performance Programme.
This year 2 of our gyrnnasis
selected to represent Scotland at the Northern European5 Championships in Sweden. A successful trip for our gytnna5t5,
staff, and Scotland.
Iso successfully Eained selection to the GB Squad. This is an amazing achievement for
nd the
only Scoiiish based senior male athlete to achieve a placing in the GB squad. Cameron also represented GB at 3 World
Challenge Cup events in Stuttgart, Tel Aviv. and Turkey. He successfully won Silver tnedal on floor at Turkey.

The team have worked C1*￿elY thr￿ghout the year on planning and programming takes to ensure our childreni young
people and gymnasts are well prepared and ready to make that next step whether it is from pre-schoDI to novice or
recreational to competitive. The club offers an exciting pathway to allow our gytnna5t to fulfil their atnbitions and
dreams within the sport.
Our coaching and manaiement team ethos is ensurln2 all gymnasrs are supported and nurtured as Indivlduals, tK)rh
mentally and physically, encouraging them to develop in their own time to their best potential, ensuring their wellbeing
is at the forefront.
We have a strong cornmittnent to developing and nurturing the coaching team and Lo ensure their wellbeing and
developmeni is of foremost IMWr￿nCe. Key mentorship workshops are held on a re£ular basis and are designed to meet
the need5 of all the coaches and staff. The learning and development of our coache5 and workforce 15 important.
Volunteers
Whilst our professional paid workforce continues to grow, we would not be able to operate as a club, without the
dedication and cotnrnitment of our volunteer5, parentslcarers, and fatnilie5. Many volunteers have prowded their tiffle
and expertise w help make a dlfference ro the club and the gymnasi. Thank you.
In addition to our new Board members, we have formed a new fundraising comrnittee who have been exceptional and
have raised over £12,000 for the club. They have organised fun nights, movie nights, discos, bonus balls, raffles. This is
such a critical area for the club. and we would like to thank thetn for all their hard work, enthusiasm. and cornmittnent.
This is an area we will continue to work on, and we would like to encourage rna￿ volunteers. parents/ carer5 to get
involved. Every little job counts, and we believe ever person has skills and experience to contribute to ihe club's wsion
and ambition. Get involved.
Partners
Parinershlps are Important to us, and we have collaborated closely wlth many partners this year. Particularly Scott1sh
Gymnastics, British Gymnastics, West Lothian Council, sportscotland, local business, local rnedia and press and most
itnptsrtant the local comtnunity. This is an a￿a we believe we can expand and developTr and we look forward to future
discussions existing and new partners in the forthcoming year.
Places
well as the importance of our people we know where we playTr train, and compete is a huge area for growth and
developrnent. Craigwillow Centre provide5 a suitable place for us to develop the skills and competencies of our
children, young people. and gymnast. However, we know frotn consultalion ￿th our gytnna5ts, coache5, parent5, and
volunteers this could be hugely improved. This continues to be an area for future discussion and developmenr.
We coniinue io operaie a community benefit lease wth West Lothian Councll and recogn1se this is an area lor future
discussion and development.

Pro9rammes
Throughout the year we have ¢reated strong links and networks to the wider community, we have renewed our Club accreditation
with West Lothian Council, attend West Lolhian Sports Council meetings to network with other 5POrting groups and share
learning and opportunities across the local comrnunily. The safeguarding of your children is a priority for the club and Linda Kerr,
Child protection officer ensures we create a safe and secure environment for our gymnast5 to progress. Our coaches and
volunteers supwrt the active schcol's team with the annu81 school gymnastics comp8titions, providing judges and coaches to
ensure the event is a success.
We ¢ontinue to build our relationships wth the local courier and p￿$$ uOating them on tt)e suc￿$se$ ol all our gymnasts to
promote achievements throughout the year.
We continue to market Ihe club in a professional manner and use socisl media, local press, leaflet drops and attending schix)Is
and nur88ri8s to h81p promote the growth and dev81opm8nl of the club.

Risk Management
The M8n8gement Committee has conducted a review of the major risks lo which the charity is 8xposed. A risk register has been
established and is updated at least annually. Where appropriat8, 8ysl8m8 or procedures h8ve been establi8h8d to mitigate th8
risks the ¢harity fa￿$. Significant external risks to funding have led to the development of a strategi¢ plan which will allow for the
iversification of funding and activities. Intern81 control risks are minimised by the implementation of procedures for aulhorisation
of all transactions and projects. Procedures are In place to ensu￿ Complian￿ with health snd safely of staff, volunteers. clients
and visit015 to the centre. These procedures are periodically reviewed to ensure that they continue to tneet the needs of the
charity.
Inductlon and tralnlng of new trustees
New trustees are appointed by a tnajority vote of existing trustees and are fatniliari5ed with the workings of the charity and it5
policies and procedures through an induction process provided by other trustees. On going training and 5UPPOrt lo the trustees is
provided ihrough informal briefings.

Basis of preparation of finantial ststements

Statetnent of Recommended Practice applicable to charitie5 preparing their accounts in accordance with
the Financ1al Reporting siandard applicable In ihe UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffectlve 1 January Z0191
(Charities SORP IFRS 10211 and the Charities and Trustee Inve5tsnent Iscotlandl Act 2005.
The fianoal 5taternpnt5 have bpen prepared to give a'true and fail Yiew and haye departed from the Charitie5
(ACC￿￿t5 and Reports) Regulations 2CI)8 only to the exrenr required to provide a'rrue and fai￿ view. This
departure has involved following Accouniing and Reporting by Charities preparing their financial siaterfEnis In
accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS1021 rather
than the A(C￿nting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice effective from 1 April
2005, %thich has since t￿n withdrawn.

the relevant acC￿n[l￿g policy. The accounts are prepared ID GBP, being the functional curreDcyJ rounded
to the nearest P￿nd.
1.2 Goln8 Concern
Total fund5 at 31 March 2023 amounted to a deficit of £10,87012022- surplu5 of £19,840). Included V￿thIn
total funds were general re5erve5 in deficit by É33,539 12022 - 115,5821. The deficit in reserves at the year end
reflects the impact of Covid on the club during 20ZZ123. Slnce March 20Z3 and into March Z024 the club has
restructured and reduced saLary costs, as well as seeking new opportun1ties to grow the1r Income potent1al
through the expansion of gytnna5tic coaching Such as additional p￿raMMIng of cla55e5 and more acce55
thrOUgh￿t the year to school holiday camps. Focus has been placed on rraditional fundraising during rhe year
and In December 2023 we secured a loan of (60,(QO to help stabilise and expand the club and In March 2024 the
charity ha5 approximately £95,0(M) of Trsh available. The rnea5ures tsken by the club PrO￿de confidence to the
Trustees of the operation of the club in thÈ nÈxt 12-18 months. Given the arti￿5 that the trustÈes have taken,
they believe that whilst there Is uncertainty, this does noi pose a material Ljncertainty on the charitys abillty
to continue as a goinE COn￿rn. The In￿leeS rherefore believe ihat it is appropriate to prepare the accounts
on a wing concern basis.
1.3 Legal Status
West Lothian Artlstlc Gymnast1cs Club is a Scottish Charitable Incorp)rated Organisation and domlclled
in Scotland.
1.4 Fund Accountin4
General fund5 are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the Trustees in
furtherancÈ of the gen&ral oblect1wes of the charlty and whlch have not deslgnated for other purposes.
Restncred funds a￿ funds which are to be used in accordance with specific restncti(￿s imposed by donors
or Yth1ch have been ra1sed by the charity for particular purposes. The costs of raislng and adminlsterlng
such funds are charged against the spec1f1c fund. The aim and use of each restr1cted fund is ser out1n the
notes to the finantial statements.
1.5 Income
All incomè is rècognisèd once thè tharity has èntitlèrnènt to thÈ intomÈ, it is probable that the inc(Krbè I￿11
received and the amount of income receivable can be measured reliably. Government grant5 are recognised whe
li is reasonable io expect that the qrants will be re£elved and ihai all related c￿dItiOnS w111 be mei usually on
subtnission of a valid claim for paytnent.

1.6 Expenditure
Expenditure is ￿¢0¥niSed oncÈ there is a I￿al or constructive obligation to transfer economic benefit to a
third party. it 15 prL*)able rhar a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount
of the obligation cèn be rr￿aSUred reliably. The costs of each acti￿tY are made up of the total of direct Costs
and shared costs, including support c￿ts involved in undertaking each activity. Dlrect costs attrI￿rable to
a Single actiwty are alloTrted directly to that activity.
Support C05t5 are those costs incurred directly in supwrt of exppnditure on the objects of the charity.
Charitable actitrities and Governance c￿ts are costs incurred on the charity's operations, Includin8
support costs and costs ￿lating to the governance of the charity apportiofftd to charitable actI￿tIes.
1.7 Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
A review irnpairment of a fixed a55et is carried out if event5 or changes in circumstanTr5 indicate that the
carwng value of any flxed asset may not be recoverable. Shortfalls ￿tween rhe carrylng Val￿ of flxed
a55et5 and their recoverabLe atnount5 are recogni5ed ￿ itnpairtnents. Impairment 1055e5 are recogni5ed in
the Statement of financial actiwtie5 incorporating Income and expefjdiiure account.

Assets obtained under hire purchase contracts and finan￿ leases are capitalised as tangible
fixed asset5. Asset5 acquired by finance lease a￿ depreciaTrd over the shorter of rhe lease
tertn and their useful lives. As5et5 acquired by hire pUrch￿e are dppreciated over their
uS￿ul lives. Finance leases are those véhere substantially all of the benÈfits and risks of
ownership are assumed by the chariiy. Obligat1ons under such agreements are included in
creditors net of the finance charge allocared to fuiure periods. The finance element of the
ntal paytnent 15 charged to thè Stat@rnEnt of financial acti￿tIeS incorpDratin$ income
and expenditure account so as to produce a constant pÈriodic rate of charge on the net

1.9 Stocks

1.10 Debtors
Trade and other debtors are ￿0¥nIsed ai settlement amount after any trade dIsc￿jTht
offered. Prepayrfftnts are valued at th& am¢KJnt prepaid net of any trade discounts due.
1.11 Cash at Bank and in hand
Cash at bank and in hand includes tash and short tèmi highly liquid invèstments with a short
