WCHCDT delivers projects and supports organisations that help meet the community's objectives as set out in our Community Action Plan. This includes distributing grants, managing a community garden and woodland, a community cafe, making infrastructure improvements and developing derelict buildings. It is also creating The Scottish Co-operative Discovery Centre as a multi-stranded, transformational local regeneration project.

Objectives: The company has been formed to benefit the community of West Calder and Harburn which comprises the postcode unit(s) set out in the appendix with full post code references (“the Community”) with the following objects: (a) To advance citizenship and/or community development (including the promotion of civic responsibility and the promotion of the voluntary sector and/or the effectiveness or efficiency of charities). (b) To provide within the Community recreational facilities, or organise recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. (c) To advance environmental protection and improvement in the Community through the provision, maintenance and/or improvement of public open space and other public amenities and other environmental and regeneration projects (but subject to appropriate safeguards to ensure that the public benefits so arising clearly outweigh any private benefit thereby conferred on private landowners) (d) To advance heritage and/ or preserve, for the benefit of the general public, the historical, architectural and constructional heritage that may exist in and around the the Community in buildings (including any structure or erection, and any part of a building as so defined) of particular beauty or historical, architectural or constructional interest. (e) to advance education particularly in horticultural and ecological matters, by encouraging and teaching a range of outdoor skills and pursuits, promoting the benefits of the natural environment and living more sustainably. (f) to advance health and well-being through improved access to an outdoor environment. promoting an active lifestyle through gardening and other outdoor leisure pursuits. promoting the benefits of growing and eating seasonal, nutritious, affordable food. volunteering and social interaction.
