Objectives and aims
The network's main obiethive is to work iogdher to wcmote bener outC4)mes for people in r¢¢¢ipt of
Self-Directed Support (SDS) or who are interestcd in pursuing this mearts to enable independent livin&
imp(ov¢ quality of life. wid facilitate aL#ive pthcipation and full integration into society.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable actlvltles
Wc continuL to operate with a small number of Board Members. we would ¢n¢ourage members
to join or Board Meetings which are On Z[￿M and considcr joinlng the Board
The B0￿d meets every six weeks via Z(M)m.
We hav¥ kept a tight rein on eX￿ndItUre and are fortunale that all our Board membe￿ arc
volunieers and take no remuneration. For th¢ first titne in many years, wc now have a full
Complement of Boar&s members.
We have applied for fundin&i from ih¢ National l.ottery & The Robertson Trust to enablc the
NLtwork to employ an Ouircach Workcr to help memlKrs with the challcnges cutT¢ntly being
cxperienced ivith SeifDirecied SupporL
Th¢ Network continues to dir¢cily ￿lple who are in dispute on various issues with
South l.anarkshire Council alx)ui Self Directed SupFK)rt (st)S) budgcil and process. As wTII
as providing advic¢ we have been directly SUPFX)rting membets wbo have I￿n in dispute
with South Lanarkshire Council about budget revicws, bud8¢1 reductions. utillsation c)f
budgds and contnbulions lowards budgets. The cases we have dealt with have been lime
consuming and brought into sharp focus Ihe need to get the funding to continue to help our
members.
On of the many challengies has tttn tbe length of time 5(KiaJ s¢rvices takc to provide
inforniation about budgets and clarity about how budgiets can be s￿nI. This is particularly
t￿e with C.arerq Budoets i¥here there is no conqi8tency of appr<>ach with contradiclTrry
inforniation being provided to car¢rs.
There is th¢ continuing Issue that supported people and carers are not always being provided
with thc correct documentation on the completion of the SDS &ss¢ssment.
We are continually emphasisTng the three pill￿3 of SDS. flexibility. choice. and control.
