Recruitment and appointment of Trustees
We lost three trustees during the year, and have held-off appointing additional ones until BEA has a better-defined role, which it now has. New trustees will be appointed or reappointed by the members at our annual general meeting which is planned for March 2026.
Governing document
The BEA is a SCIO and the purposes and administration arrangements are set out in our constitution.
Charitable purposes
Our purposes, as recorded in our constitution, are to lead the drive towards a more resilient, lowcarbon economy to help Borders businesses and communities adapt to and benefit from renewable energy generation, energy efficiency and waste reduction. Work undertaken over the last three years has identified the following priorities for action:

Increase Community Knowledge and Awareness through education and communication 3. Improve Provision of Business Skills and Training

Develop Renewable Energy opportunities, both community and commercial.
Activities and achievements
The Board met only once during the year (on-line). BEA has continued to seek opportunities to secure funding to allow our objectives to be progressed and some funding was secured in July this year. BES has lobbied for the new Enterprise agency to progress the subject.
During the year, no new funding was obtained apart from £3.68 in interest. No expenditure was made.
Trustee remuneration and expenses
The trustees did not receive any remuneration or expenses during the year.
Reserves
The BEA had £454.22 in the Bank in April 2024.
