**What the charity does:** DHBTis a ‘Building Preservation Trust’ (BPT) with charitable status. As such, it is in a  position to raise and co-ordinate various forms of finance such as grants from  central and local government. low-interest loans from the Architectural Heritage  Fund. and donations, gifts in kind, and concessionary loans from companies,  charities and the general public.  The primary aim of the trust is to rescue and preserve and restore historic buildings  in and around Dumfries (and potentially across D&G) that are at  risk of decay or depredation that could lead to their being irreparably damaged — or lost forever. Trust develops and operates a ‘revolving fund’ for the restoration or conservation of historic buildings, to enable their continued and sustainable use. We exist  principally in order to save high risk, low return historic buildings in which nobody  else is prepared to invest. The Trust keeps a watching brief on historic buildings at risk locally, and encourages their care.

**Objectives:** The objects of the Charity are to advance heritage through preserving and restoring for public benefit the historical, architectural and constructional heritage that exists in and around Dumfriesshire and the Stewartry of Kirkcudbrightshire and in Scotland generally in buildings (including any part of a building, and any other structure or erection) of particular beauty or of historical, architectural or constructional interest ('the Objects')
