Achievements and Parformance for 2025
COMMUNITY
FUND
Earlston Community Larder
2025 carried on successfully with the Community Larder offering the food share
on a Wednesday morning at the community Cafe in the Church hall, alongside
the volunteers from the church.
The Community Larder is open to everyone in the village and we work to reduce
surplus food going to landfill, so reducing food waste. On average, we have 15
people collecting food, and usually one or two donations of food from members of
the public, over and above what we collect from Morrlson's, the Premier store and
the health ￿ntre. We still get a Fa￿Share delivery twice a month and this
maintained the basics that we offered to those who are in need of food. We supplied
2 or 3 families a food parcel on a weekly basis. 5UPPOrted by the health centre staff
who dropped the parcels off. We are contaGtable by the community if anyone is
struggling with buying food.
We had a few seed swaps and home-grown fruit and vegetable swap events over
the spring and summer, encouraging the community to redu￿ food waste and also
to try growing their own fruit and vegetables.
These events were well attended and more people brought a variety of
different seeds, seedlings and produ￿ along. We also had some
atlendees keen to have a go at growing their own from the surplus for the
first time.
Over the year, we received donations of £867 to the Larder. This has
allowed us to buy basic hygiene products, tinned meat, pasta sauces and
a few other stsple$. We have spent £173.00 during thig period.

In addition, we have a community herb planter which is situated next
to the bus stop in the square, and we encourage the community to
help themselves to these herbs when they need them. We would like
to say a huge thank you to Earlston in Bloom volunteers for
maintaining the herb planter over the least year, it is very much
appreciated.
Orchard Town Project
The newly planted trees at the Cauldie have taken well. There were
trees bearing fruit over the summer, which quickly disappeared - which is great.
Earlston Prlmary School Opening Event
In June we took part in Earlston Primary School's Opening Event.
Itwas a great day. and very well attended by the community. Our
smoothie bike went down a treat with over 130 smoothies cycled.
Many thanks to Morrisons. Premier Earlston, Asda. Farmfoods and
Purple Plum for the donation of fruit and jUl￿S for the smoothies,
and Burnfoot Community Futures for the use of the Smoothie Bike.
Place Plan Project
In September, following a successful application to Scottish Borders Council.
Earlston Community Development Trust and a Town Team began developing a
Local Place Plan with help from wnsultants from Community Enterprise.
The Local Place Plan will set out the long-term vision that our Community wants to
achieve over the next 10 years and will develop a plan to help deliver a more
collaborative and sustainable future.
