Friends of Kalisgarth exists to provide support in Westray mainly for the benefit of those who live at Kalisgarth Care Centre because they are in need of extra support due to disability and/or advancing age or frailty. One of the main objects of the Friends of Kalisgarth group is to fund activities and purchase goods and services not normally provided by Orkney Islands Council. These ‘extras’ or ‘additional’ purchases are solely for the benefit of the service users to enhance their quality of life. The group also promote understanding of the function of Kalisgarth and the services it provides and the values of dignity and being socially included.

Beneficiaries: 'Older People','People with disabilities or health problems'

Objectives: To relieve those in need by reason of age, ill-health or disability in the community of Westray and in particular in Kalisgarth Care Centre by:- (a) promoting an understanding in the community of the function of Kalisgarth Care Centre and the values of social inclusion and dignity. (b) promoting the social ambience of Kalisgarth Care Centre and the needs of the service users and the contribution they can make to the wider community. (c) promoting and running additional activities, goods and services not provided for by statutory bodies, solely for the benefit of service users to further enhance their quality of life. (d) co-ordinating fund raising and allocating expenditure to further the objects of the Group.
