## Structure, governance and management 

Type of governing document Jed Thistle Rugby Football Club SCIO formed as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation on the 17" November 2011. The original Jed Thistle Rugby Football Club was first set up as a Youth Rugby Club in 1933 as an unincorporated association and wound up in favour ofthe SCIO at an Extra Ordinary General Meeting held on the 7" February 2012. The SCIO is administered by its Constitution which has been formally Accepted by the Membership. 

Trustee recruitment and appointment Trustees are recruited and appointed in accordance to the rules laid out in our Constitution. Appointment and removal of Trustees can be done at any time with the approval of the majority of the Board. All Trustees retire at the Annual General Meeting but can apply for re-election. On agreeing to become a Trustee, all Trustees are issued with copies of the Club’s policies (Child Protection, Equalities, Safeguarding) and Constitution to ensure they are fully aware oftheir role(s) within the Club. The acceptance of these documents are signed for by the Trustee on issue. 

## Objectives and activities 

Charitable purposes The purpose of the charity is the advancement of public participation in Sport through the practicing and playing of rugby football. 

Summary of the main activities The Jed Thistle club are able to provide training facilities on a weekly in relation to these objects basis for their Under 16 and Under 18 teams, with matches against similar opposition most Saturdays for the Under 18 team throughout the rugby season. The Under 16's usually play similar opposition on Wednesday evenings. The clubrooms are available for hire to all local organisations and individuals throughout the year.

## Achievements and performance 

Summary of the main achievements of | The number of young people in membership of Jed Thistle compared to the charity during the financial period —_ last season was as follows: Under 18 Under 16 2023-24 23 29 2024-25 24 30 Our playing numbers this season enabled us to field a team for most Saturdays for the U-18 team and each Wednesday or Friday for our U-16 team. Both age groups won more games than they lost: U-18’s: Played 18, Won 9 Lost 9 U-16's: Played 18, Won 12 Lost 6 On the sevens circuit the U-18’s were runners-up at 4 tournaments including our own, with the U-16's appearing in 3 finals and winning our own as well as the Peebles tournament.. Our annual Jed Thistle Sevens Tournament was also a great success, attracting a good crowd on the day with some excellent ties. Income from the event created much needed funding for the club. The highlight of our season was the trip to Northern Ireland, with a good win over Dromore Under 18’s and a desire to repeat the visit in future years. Improvements to the clubrooms are still ongoing and will be completed during the 2025-26 season. Financial review Brief statement of the charity’s policy | There is no specific level set for normal reserves outside of any Capital on reserves Grant funding carried over from previous years, but the club still have sufficient funds to covera full-year’s expenditure.
