Objectives and activities
Charitable purposes To advance, improve, develop and maintain public education in, and
appreciation of, the art of choral singing in all its aspects by any means
the trustees see fit, including through the presentation of public
performances.
Summary of the main activities The choir recruits members from the local community. The choir is open to
in relation to these objects all, with no auditions necessary. Rehearsals are held weekly in the Church
Hall, and the Choir performs concerts twice a year in Markinch.
Support is provided to members with disabilities so they can fully
participate in choir activities.
Many choir members cannot read music, so during rehearsals the
conductor helps them learn the songs being prepared for public
performance. Most songs are in four-part harmony, and members develop
some ability to read music through this process.

## **Achievements and performance**
**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the financial period**
During this financial period, the choir successfully held two concerts, one in June, the other in December. The membership of the choir is around 40 members.
The choir also performed at a local care home in December, and at the local shopping centre, singing Christmas carols.
Our main source of income came from the ticket sales for our 2 concerts, members fees, and raffles held at the concerts. Other fundraising activities included a quiz night. Our outgoings included all the expected costs of putting on 2 concerts eg. Rehearsal hall hire, fee for MD and rehearsal pianist, PRS, buying music, and insurance.

The banked funds held by the charity are unrestricted funds and represent income earned but not yet utilised in supporting the charity’s activities. The Choir committee controls expenditure to ensure the charity has sufficient funds for the next financial years activities.
