Baird of Bute was set up to provide activities for young people which will inspire them to achieve their potential in or out of Education. The Canadian Science Scholarship is awarded to students setting out on Science careers to visit laboratories and experience what it is like in Research Labs. Two students spent time in Toronto earlier this year, coming back with positive experiences in Labs and Academic Institutes. We did manage the Children's Art Competition where primary age pupils are asked to submit a painting or drawing of an idea related to Aviation or Inspiration with winning entries being made into Calendars which are distributed through the schools. There are also Science Workshops for Secondary pupils with the co-operation of Professor Eleanor Campbell of Edinburgh University.

Objectives: The objectives of the Society are:- The promotion and recognition of the historical achievements of Andrew Baird. The advancement of education and information related to Andrew Baird, and his aviation and entrepreneurial activity. The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science on the Isle of Bute.
