The trustee has pleasure in presenting her report together with the accounts of the charity and the independent examiner’s report for the year ended 31 August 2024.

## **Structure, Governance and Management**
The charity was formed by the organisers of the Don’t Walk Charity Fashion Show and was recognised as a Scottish Charity on 26 May 2011. The charity is an unincorporated association governed under its constitution and is not affiliated with any other organisation.
The charity is operated by an Executive Committee, chaired by an Executive Director, who manages the daily business of the charity and is responsible to the trustees who control and direct the charity under the constitution. No facilities are donated to the charity. Students at the University of St Andrews who are selected by the previous trustees, as per the constitution, donate all services relating to running and managing the charity and its events.
The recruitment and appointment of trustees is addressed at the annual general meeting in the spring of each year.
## **Risk Management**
The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed, in particular those relating to the operations and finances of the charity, and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate the charity’s exposure to the major risks.
## **Charitable Purposes**
The charitable purposes are defined in the constitution as:
- to raise money for nominated charities
- to advance fashion and design in St. Andrews, and
- to increase the awareness of “Don’t Walk” and the charity in the press and through marketing channels.

Charitable activities, achievements and future plans
Achievements
Our launch event, our DONT WEAR initiatives, and our fundraising efforts were used to continue supporting
designers and promoting their work on our platform. Our show was paired wth trNo auetions in order to raise
money for our chosen charities, and we donated a total of £24.000 lo our charitable partners, The EOn John AIDS
Foundatson and the Wounded Warnors Project. These donakn.ons were paid extemally from the chanty and are not
included in these accounts.
Highlights
This year, DONT WALK had a record amount of brands sponsoring the event. Prominent companies such as
Fhirst Living Soda. Karma Drinks. and Panlelones signed on as new sponsors Mthile brands such as Lovecorn.
Liquid Death, Spoiled and The Adamson continued SUPF)Orting the cause. Furthemiore, we have had a record
breaking year in temis of website traffic due lo our new professionally made page and increased social media
aclivty- We were also able to eonlinue hosting representatives from our charities to speak with our committee
about Ihe importance of their work and the impact of our charitable donation.
Future Plans
During our 202412025 year, DONT WALK Charty Fashion Show will continue to grow and expand. We will build
upon the successes of our 202312024 year wlh our annual launch party at a new location, Pratis Bams St
Andrews, whieh wll include a fashion show where young, up-and-eoming designers were able lo showease their
WO in an intimate setting. We will continue our community outreach in St. Andrews and champion our year's
mission of promoting sustainabilty in the fashion community through a cbthing resale event Mith DONT WEAR.
Our partnership wlth a local bar & social dub will promote Sdent nights to raise a goal of £6000, and our launch
event al The Weaving Shed wqll set the stage for our in-person show in March at the Bowhouse in Anstruther. We
hope the 2025 show wll be the most successful in history, and we plan lo have over 1,000 guests, renowned
designers. and world-class DJ performances. We want to reach new heights, continuing cmjr goal of promokn'ng
fashion and design in St. Andrews as well as raising money for our new nominated chartties.
Financial Review and Reserves Policy
In the year to 31 August 2024. the charity recorded a SUTplus of £2714 and a surplus for the year to 31 August
2023, of £352. The Statement of Balances shows unrestricted cash carried forward totalling £3,46212023 - £748}.
Under the constitution the charity must retain a minimum of £600 in its bank account at the end of each period.
The tsustees are able lo manage the timing of charitable donations to ensure that Slclent funds are available to
meet immediate cash demands.
Statement of Trustees, Responsibilities
The tsustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records. which disclose with reasonable accuracy at
any time the financial p0SOn of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements. which they
are responsible for preparing, comply with the Charities Accounts (Scollandl Regulations 2006 (as amended) and
the terms of the charity's Consb'tuts'on. The applicable law also sets out the responsibilities of the trustees for the
preparation and content of the Annual Report.

## **Independent Examiner's Report to the trustee of Don’t Walk Charity Fashion Show**
## **for the year ended 31 August 2024**
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 August 2024 which are set out on pages 5 to 8.
## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44 (1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of independent examiner's report**
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.
## **Independent examiner’s statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1. to keep accounting records in accordance with section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and
2. to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 8 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## **Statement of Receipts and Payments for the year ended 31 August 2024**
## 1. **Accounting policies**
The principal accounting policies are summarised below. The accounting policies have been applied consistently throughout the year.
## 1.1 **Basis of accounting**
These Accounts have been prepared on the Receipts & Payments basis in accordance with the Charities & Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended).
## 1.2 **Taxation**
The charity is exempt from tax on income and gains to the extent that these are applied to its charitable objectives.
## 1.3 **Receipts**
All of the charity's funds are unrestricted. Unrestricted funds are those funds which the trustees are free to use for any purpose in furtherance of the charitable objectives.
## 1.4 **Payments**
Irrecoverable VAT is charged as a cost against the activity for which the expenditure was incurred.

In the past 2 years independent donors have given donations to various charities on behalf of this charity. These donations did not go into the charities bank and therefore the amounts paid are unknown.
## 3. **Trustees, employees and remuneration**
No remuneration was paid to trustees in the year (2023 - none). The charity had no employees in the year (2023 - none).
