The Sustainable Inshore Fisheries Trust is a Scottish charity established in 2011 to promote the sustainable management of Scotland’s inshore waters (which lie within 12 miles of the coast). We aim to ensure that the diversity and abundance of life in these waters is protected and restored and provides the maximum long term social and economic benefits to all coastal communities.

Objectives: (1) The promotion for public benefit of the conservation and restoration of the natural ecosystems of Scotland’s inshore waters. (2) The promotion for public benefit of the sustainable development of Scotland’s inshore marine resources. Sustainable development being defined as: “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. (3) To educate the public and any association, company, local authority, administrative, or government agency or public body or representative body in: a. Scotland’s inshore marine aquatic ecosystems, including their fauna, flora, habitat and morphology and their relationship with economic and social activities including inshore fisheries management. and b. The benefits of protecting, conserving, rehabilitating and improving Scotland’s inshore marine environment. (4)The advancement for public benefit of environmental protection or improvement by promoting the thinking and practice of sustainable management of inshore waters
