We are set up to save the remains of Sir Thomas Brisbane's observatory in Largs by attempting to raise funds in the UK and Australia for the preservation of this historical site.

Objectives: (1) to advance heritage through preserving and restoring for public benefit the historic structure of General Sir Thomas Brisbane's first astronomical observatory, and the site and policy grounds of Brisbane House, together with the several meridian markers associated with the observatory. (2) to enhance and disseminate knowledge of Sir Thomas Brisbane's contribution to positional astronomy and the international significance of his pioneering observatory at Brisbane House. (3) to enhance understanding of nineteenth-century observatory design and construction techniques through experimental archaeology and use of contemporary equipment and materials. (4) to train a range of learners and professionals in the skills necessary for the repair and restoration of buildings of this quality. and (5) to commemorate the life and work of Sir Thomas Brisbane, especially his astronomical work in Scotland and Australia
