Structure, governance and management

Type of governing document The Boys Brigade is a Christian Youth Organisation and we are governed by National regulations and guidelines. The Boys’ Brigade is open to children and young people aged from 5 to 18, of any faith and background. As a company we are committed to providing a safe environment in which children and young people can develop socially and emotionally towards a mature adulthood. There are 3 main sections within the Company and each has at least two fully qualified officer.

Trustee recruitment and appointment Qualified officers of the Boys Brigade. Volunteers are asked from the church congregation and/or willing parent of a boy who has joined the boys brigade. All Officers/Chaplain/helpers are PVG checked by the Boys Brigade.

Objectives and activities

Charitable purposes The purpose of the Boys Brigade is to seek to make a positive contribution to the lives of young people. We aim to achieve this through the national programme of activities that we offer to those aged 5 to 18 year olds. There is a progressive badge work programme from when they first start with the boys aiming to achieve the highest honour of the King’s Badge.

Summary of the main activities The Boys’ Brigade provides a programme of activity across four age in relation to these objects groups. Each of the programmes provides fun and exciting activities with opportunities for children and young people to be recognised for their participation and achievement through awards.

7. Provided further funding to the Rhema Foundation in Romania.
In July officers and senior boys visited the foundation in July for
a week.
8. Senior boys participated in Battalion run activities.
9. Junior Section held a sleep overweekend in church.
10. Anchor boys participated in Battalion games afternoon and
colouring in competition
11. Officers attending Battalion Executive and General Committee
Meetings.

Respective The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance

accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with
those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the
accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such maiters. The
procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit
and, consequently, | do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.
