Based In St Abbs, the charity was created to act as a free information hub and historical archive for both visitors to St Abbs and local residents. The charity aims to preserve the history, cultural heritage and the unique natural environment of the area, while encouraging sustainable tourism. This is achieved by collecting and showcasing local artefacts in a high quality, purpose built, contemporary visitor centre. Staff are on hand to educate and inform, whether it be practical help and advice to visitors, or answering questions on local history and the natural surroundings. The charity hosts educational events, and works with like-minded local and regional charities to support and promote the central message of preservation of both local heritage and the natural environment.

Objectives: To promote and advance education, culture, heritage, community development and environmental protection in the village of St Abbs through the provision of a Visitor Centre dedicated to celebrating , promoting and increasing awareness of and education about the heritage of St Abbs and in particular its history and tradition of fishing and maritime matters, its distinct environmental features including its distinct flora and fauna and its nationally important sea-bird breeding colonies and marine reserve. and to promote such similar charitable purposes, objects or institutions and in such proportions and manner as the Trustees shall think fit.
