Objectives and Activities
Charitable purposes
Triquetra Services (Scotland) is a charitable organisation with the mission to promote and further the study of history through the medium of the historical, martial and creative arts. We do this in a way that:
-
Promotes an awareness of culture and heritage through the sharing of knowledge and information pertaining to European history;
-
Increases health, self-confidence and personal effectiveness through training in the safe and enjoyable practice of historical martial arts;
-
Develops traditional and non-traditional skills, particularly among local members of the community that are not in employment, education or training;
-
Includes all members of the community (near and far) in a wide programme of educational, informative and enjoyable events;
-
Creates voluntary opportunities among local people and historical arts enthusiasts;
-
Celebrates art, craft, culture, history and other forms of life enriching activity.
We do these things because by increasing an awareness of our heritage and culture we improve our individual and collective sense of identity. The education and training we provide creates enjoyment, greater confidence, richer knowledge and deeper understanding of ourselves and others. By creating volunteering and employment opportunities we enrich the lives of local people and enhance our community, and we believe it creates better lives for the people of Glasgow, Scotland and beyond.
Activities
Triquetra's main ongoing activity at the moment is developing its collection of antiques, performing research on the items, and creating a sellable presentation to accompany the items for handling sessions. The Collection now includes a broad range of swords and books, and a variety of different presentations and handling sessions with different themes and focus could now be given.
In the 2024-2025 financial year, there has been no new activity in the charity, as the trustees have been busy with other things.
Trading activities & regular financial outlay
The charity does not have any regular trading activities underway, meaning that the only income has been the continuing monthly payments from Fallen Rook Publishing. Our regular
3
financial outlay, however, is almost nothin& the only regular expenses at this date are the hostin8 fees for the website. Reserves policy We would like to maintain £5tXJ) of reserves so that we have the capacity to make useful purchases to add to the Collection, or otherwise pay for useful servi5 as the need presents itself. Although we are currently far froui this amount of re*rves, we will be workins towards slowly but steadily. Calculating the value of the Triquetra Collection To calculate the value of the Triquetra Collection for these accounts, we have followed the method established by our accountants behveen 2011 and 2017: simply the amount of money that our organisation has invested to acquire these items. This is not particularly reflective of the current retail value of the Collection, but we think it made sense this year to continue with the niethod in use since 2011. Conclusions & future plans This has been a very slow year because Trnstees have had other life pressures. Future plans could indude more activity - any activxty - as Trustee5 become more available to do things agai Approved b! the Board of Trustees on 16th December 2025, and si8ned on its behalf by: - Trustee
