ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

Dunlop Gala 2025 was another hugely successful day and coincided with dry weather for most of the day.

The new Parade route seems to be gathering traction with the village residents and Gala visitors with increased crowds on the streets. The parade included a few additional followers with the Beat the Goalie “Goalies” and the Delighters on stilts to mention a few. The committee made a few minor adjustments to the final part of the Parade route with the P7’s entering the field behind the Pipe Band onto the field which worked perfectly.

Once again, the Park was filled with families and people young and old enjoying all the attractions – carousels, slides, bouncy castles, and other larger inflatable “action” attractions for the older children. The Stalls were filled with a great diverse range of items to buy and experiment with slime making, cyanatope workshop and messy church for the youngsters. The arena and stage were busy and hosted Hobby Horse Trials, Scottish Dancing, Ballet and the fantastic “Delighters” street entertainers.

The new Teepee was utilised as a reading, play and quiet space for the very young visitors, this worked very well and something that we are looking to develop further.

Beat the Goalie keeps growing and this year was possibly the busiest it's ever been. The Dog Show had another busy year and keeps proving to be a big part of the event, having moved to the new location in the school playground.

Food continues to be a big attraction of the Gala with people’s expectations now being raised. This year we kept feeding the park with burgers, pizza, fish n chips, donuts, Caribbean delicacies, ice cream and artisan coffee. And that's not including the amazing Tea Tent organised brilliantly by our local Scout Group.

This year there was a noticeable increase in the number of on field volunteers and at the end to assist with the de-rig. This is due in large to the improved co-ordination and planning before the event and this needs to be continued to sustain the success of the day going forward.

The attendance and popularity of the event continue to grow each year. The Trustees would like to thank all the Members and the local community for their efforts during the period and for their continued support.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

The Trustees are pleased with the results for the year that will allow us to continue with the Gala Day.

This year we saw an increase in income from Advertising and the Raffle. We invested in additional attractions this year - crazy golf and a extra rides which increased the cost from last year but reduced queue lengths and provided more variety in the field.

The Association produced a surplus for the year of £2,404 (2024 surplus of £3,780).

We continue to act as Host Organisation for two un-constituted community groups, allowing them to apply for funding and are holding £718 in our restricted funds on their behalf.

RESERVES POLICY

The Trustees’ policy is to maintain sufficient reserves to cover the fixed costs of the following years Gala Day.

Unrestricted reserves at the year-end amounted to £15,051 plus restricted funds of £718 (2024 unrestricted £12,647 plus restricted funds on £718).

PLANS FOR FUTURE PERIODS

The Trustees intend to continue and develop the events that the Association organises for the benefit of the community.

We are still considering establishing a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) to take over from the existing unincorporated organisation. This will not affect the way in which the Association operates but will provide a measure of protection for the trustees as well as giving us the ability to hold property and contracts in name of the Association.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S STATEMENT

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention.
