Objectives: 3.1 .1. To further, within Scotland, and with respect to Scotland's external links, the advancement of environmental protection and improvement through: a) the promotion of Sustainable Development policies and practices for transport, land use and related matters, including to encourage increased reliance on: i. walking, cycling and public passenger transport. and ii. rail and water-based goods movement. b) the preservation, conservation and the protection of the environment and the prudent use of natural resources. c) the promotion of sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration. 3.1.2. To advance education of the public on subjects relating to transport, Sustainable Development in the transport sector the impact of transport on the environment and society.
