scorrisH TERRIER EMERGENCY CARE SCHEME INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF SCOTTISH TERRIER EMERGENCY CARE SCHEME I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial ststements of Scottish Terrier Emergency Care Scheme Ithe charity) for the year ended 31 December 2025. Responsibilities and basis of report As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011, the Charities and Trustee Investment Iscotlandl Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts Iscotlandl Regulations 2006. You are satisfied that the financial statements of the charity are not required by charity law to be audited and have chosen instead lo have an independent examination. I report in respect of my examination of the charity s financial statements carried out under section 4411 Ilcl of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotlandl Act 2005 and section 145 of the Charities Act 2011. In carrying out my examination I have followed the requirements of Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scollandl Regulations 2006 and the Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 14515llbl of the Charities Act 2011. scorrisH TERRIER EMERGENCY CARE SCHEME NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2025 Accountlng poli¢le$ Charity information The Scottish Terrier Emergency Care Scheme ISTECSI is a canine welfare organisation providing specifically for the care of Scottish Terriers in need of new homes or other such assistance as may be deemed appropriate. 1.1 Ba$1$ of preparation The financial slalements have been prepared in accordan￿ with the charity's governing document, the Gharities Act 2011, the Charities and Trustee Investment Iscodandl Act 2005, the Charities Accounts (Scollandl Regulations 2006, FRS 102 "The Financial Reporting Stsndard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and the Ch8rities SORP 'Ac¢ounling Reporting by Ch8rilies.' Statement of Recommended Practice 8pplic8ble to ¢harities p￿parIng their accounts in 8ccordan￿ with the Fin8nci81 Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Ropubli¢ of Ireland IFRS 1021" The charity is a Publi¢ Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102. The charity has taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP for charities not to prepare a statement of cash flows. The financial statements have departed from the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only lo the extenl required to provide a true and fair view. This departure has involved following the Statement of Recommended Practice for charities applying FRS 102 rather than the version of the Statement of Recommended Practice which is referred to in the Regulations but which has since been withdrawn. The financial statements are prepared in sterfing, which is the functional currency of the charity. Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention, Imodified to include the revaluation of freehold properties and to include investment properties and certain financial instruments at fair valuel. The principal accounting policies adopted are set out below. 1.2 Golng concern Al the lime of approving the financial stalemenls, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existen￿ for the foreseeable future. Thus the trustees continue lo adopt the going concem basis of accounting in preparing the financial statements. 1.3 Charftsble funds Unrestricted funds are available for use al the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of their charitable objectives. Restricted funds are subject to specific conditions by donors or grantors as to how they may be used. The purposes and uses of the restricted funds are set out in the notes to the financi81 stslemenls. Endowment funds are subject to specific conditions by donors that the capital must be maintained by the charity. 1.4 Income Income is re¢ognised when the charity is legally entitled lo il after any p&rforman¢e ¢ondilions havo boen mot, the amounts ¢an be measured reliably, and it is probablè that inwme will be re¢eived. Cash donations are recognised on receipt. other donations are recognised On￿ the charity has been notified of the donation, unless performance conditions require deferral of the amount. Income tax recoverable in relation to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is recognised at the time of the donation.

If the amount is not known, the legacy is treated as a contingent asset. 1.5 Expenditure Expenditure is rewgnised once there is a legal or ¢onstru¢tive obligation to transfer e¢onomi¢ benefit to a third party, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement, and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is classified by aclivily. The costs of each activity are made up of the total of direct costs and shared costs, including support costs involved in undertaking each activity. Direct costs attributable to a single activity are allocated directly to that aclivily. Shared costs which contribute lo more than one activity and support costs which are not attributsble lo a single ath.vity are apportioned between those adivities on a basis ¢onsislenl with the use of resources. Cost comprises direct materials and, where applicable, direct labour costs and those overheads that have been incurred in bringing the stocks lo their present location and condition. Items held for distribution at no or nominal consideration are measured the lower of replacement cost and cost. Net realisable value is the estimated selling price less all estimated costs of Completion and costs to be incurrèd in marketing, selling and distribLJtion. 1.10 Cash and cash equivalents Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, deposits held at call with banks, other short-temi liquid investments with original maturities of three monlhs or less, and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown within borrowings in current liabilities.

Financial instruments are rewgnised in the charity's balance sheet when the charity becomes party to the Contractual provisions of tha instrumènt. Financial asseis and liabilities are offsel, with the net amoLJnts presented in the financial statements, when there is a legally enforceable right to set off the recognised amounts and there is an intention to settle on a net basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneously. Baslc flnanclal assets Basic financial assets, which include debtors and cash and bank balall￿s, are initially measured at transaction price including transaction costs and are subsequently carried al amortised cost using the effective interest method unless the arrangement conslilules a financing transaction, where the transaction is measured al the present value of the future re¢eipts discounted al a market r8te of interest. Financial assets classified as re￿IVable within one year are not amortised. Basic financial liabilities Basi¢ financial liabilities, including creditors and bank loans are initially recognised at transaction pri￿ unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the debt instrument is measured at the present value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial liabilits'es classified as payable within one year are not amortised. Debt instruments are subsequently carried al amortised cost, using the effective interest rate method. Trade creditors are obligations lo pay for goods or services that have been acquired in the ordinary course of operations from suppliers. Amounts payable are classified as current liabilities if payment is due within one year or less. If not, they are presented as non-¢urrent liabilities. Dere¢ognition of financial liabilities Financial liabilities are derecognised when the charity's contractual obligations expire or are discharged or cancelled. The estimates and associated assumptions are based on historical experience and other factors that are considered to be relevant. Actual results may differ from these estimates. The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accounting estimates are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affects only that period, or in the period of the revision and future periods where the revision affects both current and future periods.
