**Purposes:** &#x27;the advancement of education&#x27;,&#x27;the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended&#x27;

**What the charity does:** Providing opportunities for the development and education of young people (aged 15 to 25yrs) from Shetland and elsewhere, inspiring positive change through the adventure, challenge, and experience, of Sail Training, both through offering local taster day sails on our local vessel &#x27;Swan&#x27; and on larger Tall Ships, such as those participating in large international events like The Tall Ships Races. Assisting in the provision of facilities and opportunities for outdoor education and recreation activities to young people in the interests of their social welfare, with the main object of developing their physical and mental capacities so that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society. For most of the young people that participate in the opportunities that we provide, sail training on Tall Ships is a positive, life-changing experience.

**Beneficiaries:** &#x27;Children or young people&#x27;

**Objectives:** a) to provide opportunities for the development and education of young people from Shetland and elsewhere (aged 15 to 25yrs) inspiring positive change through the adventure, challenge and experience of Sail Training.  b) To provide, in the interests of education, citizenship and community development, sail training opportunities and other leisure time occupation available to young people with a view to improving, advancing and improving their life skills, knowledge and personal development.  c) To promote, establish and operate sail training schemes of a charitable nature for the benefit of the community.  d) To promote education and to provide, or assist in the provision of, facilities and opportunities for outdoor education, recreation or other leisure-time occupation in the interests of social welfare for young people with the main object of increasing their prospects of obtaining paid employment, of improving their conditions of life and helping develop their physical and mental capacities so that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society.
