Novice Juvenile Band
We commenced the season with a strong closed period. during which many of (MJr your)g piper5 and drummers
participated in both local and national solo competitions between September and November-some for the
very first time. The consistently high standard of perforniance. which has become a hallmark of our band,
ensured continued representation in the prize lists. We were particularly prLNJd to see four of our fflembers
successfully audition for the National Youih Prpe Band of Scotlar¥J. This marks the third consecutTve year that
our band has been represented at this prestigious national level. A signif7cant milestone this season was the
progression of nine members from last year's Novice Juvenile bafKI into the Grade 2 band.

Nov7ce Juvenile Band
In September. we were honoured to perfomi at the 40th AnniYer5ary celebration of format?on of the
Novice Juvenile Pipe Band. The event was marked by numerous compliments warilTng the band's smart
presentalion and musical talent, and a shared sense of pride that the current ensemble continues to uphold
the high stan(Jards and aspirations upon which the original band wa5 lounded. Our annual prize-giving took
place during a bowling and pizza night in Decefflber, and, for the fifth consecut?ve year, we were thrilled to
join the Red Hot Chilli Pipers on stage at the Aberdeen h*Jsic Hall a5 part of their annual concert tour. This
event remains a highlight for our younger members. many of whom exp*rienced the excitement for the first
time. while our more Seasoned players continue to enjoy the occasion. Our Hogmanay fundraiser in December
was once again a key event for the band. ￿th excellent attendance from member5.
The competitT¥e season began with the RSPBA North of Scotland Branch Quartets In Huntly Tn March, where we
entered two quartets and secured 2nd place in Grade 48. Our lead dnjmmer also achieved 2nd place in the
U14 category at the RSPBA Scottish Solo Drumming competition. Aprrl saw our first full band competition at
the branch indoor contest. where we competed in Grade 4B. Immediately following our perforniance, we
returned to Aberdeen Music Hall for a sound check ahead of a concert hosted ty Bucksbum and District
featuring the Glade 1 band, Fife Police.
We entered the outdoor season on a high at Banchory, placing 3rd in Grade 4B. narrowly behind two larger
bands from the south. Thls mmentum carried Ènto June. where we achieved 1st place in Grade 4B at both the
Aberdeen Highland Gafftes and a new contest In Inverufje. Our first major championship was the UK
Cha￿piOnShip in July, held at a new venue in Edinburgh. We delivered a strong perforniance and were
delighted to place 3rd in the Novice JuvenTle grade, though we felt otjr efforts may have warranted a slightly
higher ranking. We had a dip in perfomiarFce at the Scottish ChampionshTPS where we dropped to 1 Ith place in
the Novice JuvenTle grade. This outcome sharpened our f￿uS heading inio August, t*ginning Mth a local
competition in Mintlaw where we again secured 1st place In Grade 4B.
This victory a150 earned us the title of North of Scotland Champion of Champior)s. Still trying to Juggle
htslidays, we were off lo Perth for the European Championship with renewed determination. Our efforts were
rewarded with a 4th place finish in the Novice Juyenile grade. There was a large entry in the Nowce Juvenile
grade at the World Pipe Band ChampionshTPS. and we were really excited to qtjalify in 3rd place from our
group of 15 bands. The Novice Juvenile final was heid on the Friday evening in the Grade 1 arena. This wa5 a
fantastic experience for all our young pLayers who rose to the occasion. delivering an excellent performance
and finishing 7th overall out of 30 bands.
This season stands as one of the most succe55ful in recent years for the NO￿(e Juvenile band. It has been a
privilege to witness the growth and development of our young musitian5.
None of these achievements would be rM)s5ible WIt￿l the ￿avering support and dedication of our tuning
team. tutors, families. and friends. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who have contributed to and have
share in our Successes. The bar has been set high. and we now look forward to welcoming the next generation

FOR ThE YEAR ENDED 31 AUGusf 2025
Grade 2
After many years of difficulty, the 2025 season was finally a more exciting and more wsitive one for Bucksburn
& District Pipe Band Grade 2. The year started off like many have in recent years, wthout a leading drummer
as decided to walk away after only a few weeks in the role. However. the band were in a much healthier
posltion to deal this after PrON￿ting several of our NJ members up into our Grade 2 band at the end of
the 2024 season. hs well as severdl NJ pipers and drummers coming up. we also had one of our new drLtmmers
agree to step up as Leading Drummer. The band was on a little on the back foot but thanks to everyone pulling
together and putting in a huge amount of time and effort we were finally able to get back out on the grass as a
competTng Pipe Band again. The competing season started in March for the PTpe coips at the North of Scotland
Branch Quartet competitFon. Thi5 wa5 a fairly successful day for the band. playing 3 times in Grade 2 and 3
times in Grade 1 in addition to the having NJ band also out competing. The band just missed out on the
prize list in Grade 2 however stTII came away with a 1st place in Grade I with all 3 quartets placing in the Top
Following the Quartets the band then welcomed Police Scotland Fife Pipe Band to the Aberdeen Music Hall for
our annual concert on 19th April. The date ol the concert tJnf¢>rtunately clashed with the IndcM)r North of
kotland Branch competition mearbing the Grade 2 band were unable to compete. This day was a huge success
for the band with the concert being well received by everyone in attendance. The band then moved on to our
first outdoor competition of the season in Banchory on I lth May. 2 solid performances from the band resulted
In a 4th in Grade 2 and 2nd in Grade 1 achieving 2 x 1st places in piping. Our [￿xt competitions came in June
at a rainy Aberdeen Highland games and then the Inaugural Garioch pipe band competition in Inverurie. The
band put in some good performances at these contests and were unlucky not to be placed higher. After getting
3 local competitions under our belt. we then turne<i our foc￿ to the major competitions starting Y￿th the UK
Championships in Ingliston on the 12th of July. This was a slightly disappointing Ferforniance from the G2
band, however the band finished in 8th place. tled for 6th bul beaten on ensemble preference. The band5
perforfflance Improved at the Scottish ChampionshTPS in Dumbarton. finishing 72th overall. Moving on to the
European Championships in Perth, the batKi, unfortunately, finishing LK)tlom of the grade on the day. The band
then finished off the season on a high with strong t*rfonnances at both Mintlaw and The World Pipe Band
Championships.
Looking forward to next season we're delighted to welcome a few new members into the band, strengthening
both pipe corps and drum corps. Preparation5 are fully underway for the 2026 5ea50n as we gear up to build on
last year's success of getting back out competing.
