The purpose of these funds is (i) to provide grants to members, or those who would be eligible to be members, of the Royal Faculty (past or present) and the spouses/civil partners/dependants of such members/potential members, whom the Council consider to be in need of assistance and (ii) to advance the education of individuals in studying or researching Scots law or in qualifying or training as lawyers in Scotland. The committee meets at least twice a year to decide whether to continue with existing grants and also whether to award grants to new applicants.
Beneficiaries: 'Other defined groups'
Objectives: 1. The Trustees shall pay or apply the income of the Trust Property for the following purposes and may pay or apply any of the capital of the Trust Property as they may from time to time determine for the following purposes: (a) making grants to (i) such persons as are or shall have been Members of the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow for such period of time as the Trustees shall from time to time consider in all the circumstances to be appropriate and who the Trustees consider to be in need of assistance. and (ii) such persons as are or shall have been the spouses or dependants of persons falling within (i) above and who the Trustees consider to be in need of assistance, declaring that the foregoing purposes shall apply not only in relation to such persons as are or shall have been Members of the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow but also to those who are or would have been eligible to be such a Member. For the avoidance of doubt, the Trustees shall be the sole judges as to whether a person is in need of assistance. (b) to advance the education of individuals in studying or researching Scots law or in qualifying or training as lawyers in Scotland.
