the cooperation band is a community brass band, based in Glasgow city centre. Originally formed in 1918 by the Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society at their SCWS factories in Glasgow. Various name changes over the years have reflected changes in Co-operative sponsoring organisations. The band is the most successful Scottish contesting brass band with 37 Scottish Champions titles and 2 Champions of Great Britain titles plus many Scottish Band of the Year awards. Rehearsals are held twice weekly and members come from many backgrounds including a dozen conservatoire trained music graduates. The band members have a key common goal - presenting high class music and performances to as wide and inclusive an audience as possible. From gala days, to cathedral concerts, to contesting in the best UK concert halls, the band seeks to entertain and excel in every rehearsal and performance. There is a continuous drive and dedication to foster and grow community and youth music development.

Objectives: (1) To promote public appreciation and understanding of brass band music and to stimulate interest in the art of brass band playing for the benefit of the public generally and especially members of the Co-operative Movement. (2) To promote the education and training of people of all ages, in the playing of brass instruments and their appreciation of brass band music.
