Activities
'It does none of these'
'the prevention or relief of poverty','the advancement of education','the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended','the promotion of equality and diversity'
Our charity is set up to bring together Edinburgh residents who are of Gambian descent and provide support with their welfare, poverty relief and celebrate our common cultures and heritage. We do this by organising regular activities that help members to socialise, share experiences and support each other. Our main activities include an annual cultural weekend with a drum and dance session, a carnival, family fun day, children's summer day out, weekly football gatherings in the summer months plus cultural and educational training sessions for community members.
Beneficiaries: 'Children or young people'
Objectives: The purposes of the organisation are to: a. Provide relief to and promote the welfare of Gambians and their families. b. Strengthening and celebration of Gambian cultural and religious values in the community c. The advancement of civic responsibility within the Gambian community. d. Promote equality and diversity within the Gambian and other migrant communities. e. Promote the advancement of formal, informal education including life and personal development skills. f. Provide recreational facilities or other activities to promote participation in sports and leisure activities. g. Any other purpose that may reasonably be regarded as analogous to any of the preceding purposes.
